There is a Saturday class @ Home Depot & I'm thinking of taking it as it's only a few hours. Is tiling really difficult? What an adorable house! I grew up with those white frame houses with black trim, & to me, they always looked stark & maybe institutional. & this is what I thought when I was too young to know those words! I think with a pure white background, you can use pure clear colors like red, which is a great "country" color for houses, or deep cool pastels, like the gray you have now or maybe a deeper gray. Hunter green is also a traditional color for farmhouse trim, & it would play off the white white beautifully. I'm a fan of Behr paints from Home Depot, but a lot depends on your climate; we have lots of summer & you may have lots of winter or lots of salt spray. This forum's participants have a vast pool of experience a great willingness to share, so I'm sure somebody will give you expert advice on brand & type.

Be sure to sample colors on all four sides of the house before committing to the color. The color will look different on the different sides. Have the painters put up big swatches and pay attention to how it looks with your roof color. Daylight tends to wash out colors so you may want to choose something that looks too dark on a chip. Ask the painting contractor which brand they like to use and choose a color only from that brand. Color matching between brands is approximate, not 100%.

The house is adorable. I actually like the yellow, bright as it is. No shutters, and yes, replace the storm door. You live in northern Michigan, you definitely need a storm door. I do prefer one with a lot of glass, but, a requirement for me, is that it also has the pull down storm to reveal a screen. Its pretty nice to be able to open the top a bit, and let fresh air into the house.
