Some of my fav' Aloes
Comments (10)Sure... I'll try to take some pics. But my albiflora is pretty small! It had no roots when I got it this fall. I didn't complain, though, because I'd been on a quest for it for months, and it was a gift from a terrific grower (where I ordered 25 other plants). I think it's rooted pretty well now and I think it even has a tiny pup. On more photographs... I have to hydrate my biggest aculeata before I photograph it... it's looking parched and skinny and a bit sunbrowned. I've been growing it kinda hard. On other favorites... I want to try a couple more in the fleurentiniorum group, like inermis and kahinii, but they're sorta hard to find. When you find them, though... The texture on the leaves is like nothing else! I also want to get dinteri (again! mine died, alas!) and sladeniana. Handsome miniatures....See MoreNew to forum.....Meyer Lemon my fav (pic)
Comments (2)Thank you rickjames! I went with my best macro lens to get that shot. I think the blossoms are so beautiful! I probably have the most photographed lemon trees in the state, lol....See MoreSome more pretties! (pics)
Comments (11)Really nice photos, you have some real beauties. I have been enjoying all that you posted. I love those Cotillion twins, so pretty. Is that Blue Reflection pretty close to true color? I am getting anxious for my first bloom on Sue Rothbauer, I am a little nervous about ones I got from G. Wild, as I have heard they sometimes aren't what they are supposed to be . And I really love that one. Thanks for sharing!...See MoreWhite or Black... pick a fav pic
Comments (59)LOL, egganddart49 I agree - half go one way and half the other. We aren't much help are we? I will say this: Our kitchen is L - shaped with windows that mainly face north but we do also have 2 windows that face west. We also have wood cabs about the same color as the QS red oak (although they are now quite old and no where near as lovely as the samples shown.) Our countertops are white and while I do love the look of black countertops with the wood - it's a very rich looking combination - we would not have dark counters in this kitchen. And this is just our personal preference but here's why: We get tons of light this time of the year in the afternoon - ugh, lots of heat too - but during the winter our kitchen would look like a tomb with black countertops. (One reason why we also have a light color tile floor in here.) This is actually something we have talked about and next time around - which I hope is soon - we will go with a very light countertop color again. Maybe not white, white, but something very light. Why? We're getting older and while dark is nice, it's much easier to see things and work in a brightly lit kitchen. Light countertops reflect white. Dark counters absorb light. I also try to be conscious of how much electricity we're using and in a dark kitchen, we would be running lights non-stop, especially in the winter. (The new cree LED cans are wonderful though!) My 2 cents but good luck with your kitchen planning. Those cabinets are just lovely. Mmmmm, I'm hoping we find something as pretty in our future....See Moretreehugger101
