WSed MG's great foliage but no blooms!
Comments (10)I don't feed much, but am sure thinking of feeding these one puny hardly growing, sparse small foliaged MG's I have! The compost is quite ready. I have some 15-30-15 MG I use for the houseplants and I'm just gonna have to go give'em a half-strength kick in the arse!! I'll just do a foliage spray. On the other hand I have these 'Star of Yelta' that have lots of huge leaves and I spotted a few flower buds this morning!! I think I totally need taller tripods than 3.5'....well, I knew that but just used what I had on hand. Thanks goodness there are sunflowers near by...guess I'll use them when I run out of tripod space LOL!! Hope you see some pretty flowers soon, Vera...See MoreSpring bloom
Comments (10)GGG, I don't know all the varieties we have. There is an unnamed variety that blooms very early- mid February usually. This year there were just a few blooms on them I have them in various places in the yard. One called Ice Follies is usually prolific but not this year. Others just hardly had any blooms at all. Maybe next year... Buford, There's lots of foliage - I don't think anything has eaten the bulbs. Maybe fertilizer is needed. It won't hurt to try and see if it makes a difference next year. If everyone is like me, I look forward to seeing the first blooms of the daffodils early in the year. It always means spring is on the way....See MoreNew leaves - possible too much watering?

Comments (42)Well, I'm getting a second round of flowers of "shimmer" Oenothera. That is pleasant surprise. What isn;t AS cool is they they open up when the lighting is terrible and getting a nice picture of them before the flowers shrivel up is not so easy. Course, that really isn't a surprise, it is an EVENING primrose, after all. What I did get pictures of is my gladiolus "black surprise" that is blooming. Not a very impressive display this year, I think most of them drowned to death this spring, but this is a very neat color, I'm glad my wife picked these ones out! They change colors depending on the light! The ones that opened today have touch of purple on them that you can barely see on the last picture....See MoreJoanne Becker
