People with pots in drawers, how to do you store the lids? Pics?
Comments (12)Sorry, I don't have a picture but I think I bought my pot lid holder at Linen and Things or BBB. It kinda reminds me of a dish strainer/holder. It is a coated wire (sorry words escape me tonight) "container" that holds the lids upright. I love mine! Works great. Looks like what you put dishes inbetween in the dish strainer. I have tried to look it up on the internet and am getting a blank. However there is something similar from Rubbermaid. Link is below. Here is a link that might be useful: Rubbermaid lid and pan organizer...See MoreHow do you store your pots & pans
Comments (11)I have one lower cabinet, 14" wide. Traditional depth, with two roll out shelf/drawers. Top drawer has a 12" pan I use almost daily with lid kept on the pan. Two small stainless saucepans with lids on in front of big pan. Second drawer has 8" skillet with the 4 quart pot on top of each other. They are the same size, so the don't nest, just stack. The lid fits both and kept on which ever pan is on top. Medium saucepan in front of that with the lid on. Cast iron skillet is kept in the broiler. Are the pans you are nesting really being used on a daily basis? Can you remove any of those not frequently used and stop nesting? I cook almost every day of the year and it's important to me to just reach in and grab what I need without having to move something. I need new pans and HD wanted to pick up a set at Costco. Nope, says I. I'd rather pay more at a specialty shop and get just the size pans I need and will fit in my storage. Gloria...See MoreHow do you store your bed pillows when not in use?
Comments (11)If the wicker is already medium to dark in color, leave it as is. Otherwise, paint it an espresso color. You could place it at the end of the bed or in the closet. I asked this very question several months ago and it seems most people do not have a good place to store pillows. I would like to get a tall square wicker container with a cover and keep that in the closet for pillows. I have not found one yet....See MoreHow do you mix your potting mix?
Comments (7)I am thoroughly disgusted with peat. It breaks down, compresses, rapidly decomposes into a solid rock like substance unless large amounts of vermiculite and perlite are added, and that makes it extremely difficult to maintain moisture in the pots. I am watering everyday and sometimes need to water twice a day. Wick watering is not an option because of how I display my plants and also because of rapid evaporation. I need a heavier soil that does not retain moisture like peat does. Peat also is devoid of any nutrients, does not retain nutrients so fertilizing is more the art of hydroponics rather than soil based science. I don't have garden loam this being Arizona rock and sand desert soil. Any suggestions? I can get well rotted manure, blood meal, bone meal. Anything else necessary?...See MoreRenee
