Is It A Bad Idea To Grow Two Trees Very Close To Each Other?
Comments (9)Depends on what effect you are looking for. There are plenty of examples of groups, circles, pairs of trees which have grown up together and look very good. I was just looking at a group of 200 year old beeches in my local park, 5 I think, which stand in a circle and form one giant crown. But it may depend on your climate and whether you are prone to snow load, high winds etc. Not my own picture but this is the group I mean. Here is a link that might be useful: Group of beeches...See MoreDid I plant these 2 trees close together enough for a screen?
Comments (3)Hi Fillagirl We have two Schubart Chokecherries 12 feet apart in our back yard. They were planted in 2004. They have a space approximately 4-5 feet apart for most of the branches, although a few are closer together. They obscure a lot of the neighbour's house, but don't even come close to blocking the view in between them. I planted a juniper in between them about 3 feet further from the fence than they are. How tall will your dogwood get? I wouldn't have it planted straight in line with the other two. If it doesn't get really tall, you will be seeing a fairly big chunk of your neighbours' house for quite a few years still. Do you suppose they'll plant a few trees? Your chokecherries will likely sucker, depending on the variety. They are also suseptible to the fungus (don't remember what it's called) that looks like a dog pooped on the branches of your trees. Watch for it, particularly in the spring and fall, as it's kind of hard to detect with the dark leaves. You have to cut it off about a foot further along the branch and disinfct your cutters each cut or it spreads even faster. Please keep in mind I'm far from an expert, but I've given you my two cents worth =:)...See Moretwo round tables close together?
Comments (9)I think a second round table will be fine, in fact the best choice for that area. However I suggest cutting a 36" round out of paper and laying it on the floor between the chairs to see how the size works. My round tables are 30" diameter and seem large enough for end tables. I was just thinking about round tables the other day as I actually have 4 in my LR. There are 2 used as matching side tables (30" diameter) that are skirted at one end of the 28' room, one (27") draped with a steer hide at the other end of the room, and a 42" antique pedestal dining table in the middle of the room. *Might* be too many round tables but I like each of them and probably the decorating police won't visit for awhile! Most people visiting me are not all that much into critical decorating so as long as I like it it's all good. Since there are so many rectangular shapes in my LR I think some round shapes help balance. Lego is always a nice casual decorating accessory! :D...See MoreOne tree vs two palms - too close together
Comments (7)Hi, thank you. I am not thinking about digging the palms up. Now if becomes clear to me that the palms won't be able to make it, then my only solution is to cut the palms off at the base. I wouldn't try to excavate around the roots to save it. I am sure the shaving brush tree roots are tangled with the palm roots and that effort would be futile. As for the strangle fig roots, I am not quite sure what to do yet. So far I have been cutting it where I see them, sometimes I will dig a little to get back further and cut it closer, but it has spread everywhere and quite out of control....See Moreken_adrian Adrian MI cold Z5
