Yet another asparagus question :)
Comments (1)I think you can plant them where they will be, just remember you cant harvest them until their third year or you will stunt the plant. You should plant as many as will fit in your space, given they are seeded 12 inches apart so they have room to grow. Because it is a perennial and takes several years to even get started before the first harvest and since people like a lot of asparagus and it only produces one crop a year, I suggest you assign or plant an entire 4'x 4' in only asparagus. Have you ever grown it before? The plants get very bushy throughout the summer and need quite a bit of room to spread out so leave good aisle space around it. (After you have harvested the asparagus, consider using the feathery leaves as filler in flower arrangements.)...See MoreAnother, yet different, sink question...Help/Opinions Please.
Comments (8)My understanding is that Blanco is the only one who does Silganite sinks. I think that is their name for the special combination of ground granite and glue or whatever fancy compound holds it all together. Unfortunately, I found their website difficult to navigate and search so perhaps you should go to a showroom and talk to a dealer. Tell them your requirements and they should be able to tell you what your options are. Once you have a name for a sink, it is much easier to find it lots of places online, including Blanco's website to get specs. I think there are probably other companies with something similar to Silgranite, but honestly, I don't know who they are. At one point I did but I decided early on I wanted a Blanco sink and never looked back, especially b/c compared to some other big name brands, I thought they were very reasonable (like $300-$400 v.s $700+ for Kohler and others). Perhaps your current sink hurts your back b/c it sits back 6''. Just a thought. If I only had 30'' to work with, I'd do a single bowl sink. There are a ton of people here who swear by their single bowl sinks. (I have a 70/30 b/c I am always defrosting something in the small side but I really enjoy having the big space on the other side and can totally see how someone would love a single basin sink.)...See MoreYet another question about my family room!
Comments (17)I get the room that only works one way. I would like to be able to do a sofa and chairs or pair of sofas in my FR, but even before we bought the house we knew this room neeed a sectional. Still, it is a pain to try to find one that fits the room. In your room, I would want a pair of matching sofas or a sofa and two chairs. It's hard to know, but it looks like the grey sofa might be shorter than the one you have now - could you do a pair or the same sofa? If chairs, could you do recliners? Not big barcalounger type, but one that looks like regular comfy chair but lets you put your feet up. DH might beat you to the recliner instead and then you'd have your choice of sofa or the other chair. ;-)...See MoreYet another garden layout question
Comments (2)An additional 48 sq feet is tempting and could be done IF you do 2 things first - (1) change or add to the fencing so the deer can't nibble through the fence (much smaller openings needed), and (2) clear a /grass weed free space on the outside of the fence like a 1' wide band of pea gravel on top of thick plastic. Some do this with weed killer but that has to be done before any crops are planted and it doesn't last all season. Otherwise, from my experience I can attest that both of your concerns are valid ones - they do eat through the fence and weeds will sprout and be difficult to eliminate between the fence and the beds.
