Is the 50-year high school reunion that I chaired.

I'm so excited, as well as a bit nervous. We managed to contact over one hundred and forty classmates. Total classmates attending is 71, with the rest being spouses/significant others etc.

When I first started this, I wasn't sure of what to expect, but have been overwhelmed by the responses from those that we've contacted. No one was nasty when contacted about whether they wanted to come. We had four who were very polite about not wanting to show up and one thank me for at least thinking about him. Apparently he'd never been contacted about other reunions!

The number of people who included "Thank You" for doing this notes with the checks was very touching. A couple even commented how great it was that here I was so far away, but doing the job of chairing. It helped that I finally got a great committee to help me.

Will post pictures after I get back. I know George (bless his heart) will be VERY happy when it is all over. He's been soo supportive of me and helped keep me calm when things got rocky.

Kudos for taking on this task, so much work. I hope you have a fantastic time! Everyone there deserves a pat on the back for making it to their 50th reunion. Have fun!

I did. It was really difficult. She'd signed their closing documents for him because he was out of the country. WithOUT a power of attorney. I think I'll actually be fully in the house by next Tuesday. All the utilities are on. Half of the boxes are done and the moving container is sitting in my yard. All of the "garage" and patio is in the container. I'm off all next week, and as of 9PM tomorrow night no more school or marching band until the 11th. So I think we can get done by then. Close!!!!

True Pink Beauty was never good here. Typical tender evergreen--foliage, but few blooms. Let us know if Buddy's Black Beauty proves to be hardy. Electric Mist is not a fast increaser, but it has increased. Desire of Nations also not fast, but so nice. Same thing here with Ada Mae Musick, but scapes are not registered height.

Time for the party! I am always amazed at how different every one looks. I can guess a few but thank goodness for id tags. Enjoy.

Oh I hope you two have fun. I always go to my high school reunions although I still live in the same city where I went to high school and I always have fun.

What's nice is the committee people who all pulled it together. We've decided we definitely want to keep in touch after the reunion.

Even have three teachers who are coming! One I've kept in touch with for years.

Will take lots of pics.

I hope everything goes smashingly well - you've worked so hard and deserve to relax and enjoy the festivities.

DH and I are going to his 50th high school reunion in the fall. Initially he wasn't going to attend but some of his classmates contacted him and he decided to go. I think he's finally beginning to look forward to it and we've even turned it into a mini-vacation. We'll stay for a week and visit with other friends and families in the town where we both grew up.

Oh How Wonderful. All the notes of thanks must give you great warmth and feelings of satisfaction. You have done a really good thing. Looking forward to your photos and great smiles from long ago friends......soooooo nice!

another thing you might want to try....Our class set up a facebook group so all members can keep in touch...share pictures of friends ...when we were young

or old. Recently some have been sharing pictures of old places in our town.

some are no longer around. I enjoy seeing them

I was in charge of my 50th (gulp) reunion last fall. Out of a class of about 330, a fair number are deceased and about 75, plus spouses, attended the event. We mailed to everyone first and got very few return letters, so I am guessing that the letters were received. In the letter we directed people to our class web site, which I set up using Class Creator. The basic version was free and did everything we needed. It's nearly a year later and people are still checking in. Reunions are a huge amount of work!

We also set up a Facebook page, but not everyone is on FB. Enjoy every minute of it and don't get caught up with "being in charge" so that you don't have fun, too. You will be surprised how old people have gotten. Ha!

dedtired, our class was 369. We know of 30 that are deceased (and I'm sure there are more). Our of the total number 71 are classmates that are able to make it. Originally we had more express a very positive yes, but four, due to surgeries and family obligations, had to back out.

We used a "Memory Book" from our 25th to start tracking down people using various methods on the internet.

We have a closed FB page, and that helped somewhat. I did use snail mail on a number of them (not everyone has computers etc.) and that helped.

George will make sure I don't get caught up in trying to be in charge, but letting go and having a good time.
