If so, send him a certified letter (return receipt) that unless he proceeds with the sale by such and such a date, you will consider the deal null and void and keep his deposit. Then go to the DMV (not AAA) and get a replacement title. Take a copy of the letter you sent the buyer as proof he backed out of the deal. You get a replacement title and proceed with selling the vehicle. You can claim the deposit as costs to replace the title if he wants the money back. Or keep track of the costs associated with replacing the title and send him the balance....See MoreNeed help with a decision(buy vs. keep the old car)
Comments (10)Sorry for not getting back sooner, been at the freaking mechanics shop too much! So basically I took the advice and got the repairs done, I think I was freaking out a little bit. I now have had the tires replaced, the front tie rods, the front hub bearing, and now I get a PO410 code from the computer. Looks like something has gone wrong in the "smog" pump. I have checked the fuses, they are OK. So looks like that was the cheap fix option. I am going to take it back to the shop to check it out and see where the problem is. I am hoping that it is just a leaking hose and not the pump itself or the relay, because that is going to cost me. Looks like the pump has to be either bought from GM, no one else makes the part, or a rebuilt one. So this repair will cost me. And I called the warranty company, since this is not an internally lubricated part, it is not covered. Next time, it like 3 years when the car is payed off, I will learn to research the vehicle better first and make sure the warranty is going to cover the things that break down the most. Thanks for all the advice people, I have never been in this kind of a situation before. I had a 96 Dakota that only had to put new tires on and fix the exhaust(twice) in 6 years. Wrecked it and had no choice but get a car fast as I had no other transportation....See MoreWhat do foodies keep in their car?
Comments (36)Ya! BB&B coupons. Quarters. I forgot those things! I just bought a new car this weekend but don't pick it up till Sunday so I have all week to clean out my old car which I've had for TWELVE years. I'm thinking that I'm going to find all KINDS of stuff in the nooks & crannies that I'd forgotten I had. I'll report back if anything interesting pops up. Just thinking about it now, I do also keep some CDs hidden away in there that I almost never listen to. LOL Plus hard candies that I might grab on the way out of a restaurant for later... and then never eat! I keep 2-3 pairs of reading glasses and yes, a pair of scissors too. I have to admit the reason for the scissors is very specific. One of our favorite local Mexican restaurants prints a coupon every week in the local throw-away paper that is local to their area. Houston's pretty big and we're not in the delivery zone for that paper although we're really not that far from the restaurant. The paper's office is very close to the eatery though, so we always swing by there and grab one from their dispenser (free) on the way to eat. Thus we need the scissors in the car - to cut out that coupon!...See MoreSelling nearly new car practical?
Comments (33)No great words of wisdom for you, but a couple of thoughts. For my older boys we bought the older one a subaru wrx and middle one a used saab 9-3. While they both have been amazingly trouble free, when they do need work the things that are wrong need to go the dealer and it's been expensive. In particular with the Saab - they don't sell them anymore so parts are pricey and hard to come by - some impossible. That said, son #3 now has his temps and I've decided he can only buy American or Honda or Toyota. Looking at a several year old Ford Escape with AWD - not real sexy, but safe and functional. I personally love a new car, and have leased my last two vehicles. I drive them three years and take them back! My DH is a drive to the ground guy, actually takes pride in how many miles he can get out of a car. I believe BMW includes all the maintenance on their cars so you have to factor in those fees you'll also have to pay on a different car that probably will need some work. I'd keep the BMW, cancel the collision insurance on the Jeep since it's so old, and buy the girls a decent enough car that it will last at least 6 years. I think the 2010+ Fords are all good quality, and reasonably priced. I like the Ford Fusion. I also am a huge fan of Honda Accords and Civics. You should be able to find a fairly decent one for under $10,000. Goodluck, teen drivers are not for the faint of heart....See MoreLily Spider
