Comments (22)Gazania, Teddy was 27. I had him for almost 7 years. I rode him on our trails behind the farm where he lived. He was in great shape most of the time I had him. He developed COPD last year and I could still ride him in the fall, winter and spring. But this spring he developed cancer, so I retired him to live happily with his 10 friends in their 33 acre pasture. It is a 100 acre farm with about 40 horses on it. I never would have thought I would be back riding horses at my age (64) but it has been so much fun. I have a really nice group of friends and one is letting me ride her horse when she can't come out. I'm grateful for that. Teddy was a character. He loved people and coffeecake! :) He had a lot of personality and was a favorite on the farm. He will be missed for sure. Thanks for asking about him. Comments (10)Gazania, I didn't know anything about Richard Teague before you just told us, but I looked him up and he was an extraordinary guy! So interesting and a subject I know absolutely nothing about. It's funny how something like a car, an everyday item, could have such an interesting and crazy kind of existence. I don't think I will look at another car in the same way ever again. Of course I knew people designed cars, but I never knew what all went into that process. Fascinating. Comments (17)My maternal Grandparents supported their family of 11 working the deep coal mine that was on the land they owned and where their home was built. Of course all the kids as they got old enough worked in the mine. It was wholly owned and operated by the family. That would have been in the early 1900's to about 1940. My Dad died suddenly at age 49, just 3 days before the letter came accepting his application for State Mine Inspector in PA. Heart Disease complicated by black lung took him. He had spent all his working life in the mines mostly as a general foreman and actually teaching night classes in mining in our town for Penn State University....See More

10 years agoPickeral weed, which has taken over my small pond. The root mass (all plants are connected) is so heavy it's impossible to pull
out.
