What's in bloom in your garden this week, April 10th?
Comments (23)FINALLY got some blooms opening! -A few daffodils, mostly the existing ones or ones I moved last fall so they still had roots on. The new ones I planted as bought bulbs haven't opened yet. -A few scilla. - One muscari. - The forsythias are just starting to open. - The indomitable Hellebore (foetidus) has been blooming for months it seems. - The pussy willow is pretty much done. - One snowdrop still around. - Several pieris in early stages of bloom. My garden overlooks the Bay - as I drive out, the road takes a right angle turn away from the water and immediately the gardens are weeks ahead of us. I've been seeing forsythia in full bloom and daffodils all over the place, less than 1/8 of a mile away. Claire...See MoreWhat is Blooming in Your Garden - July 2011 - Part 1
Comments (28)Thanks, DtD. The hosta and yucca are in the same view area and are seen together. I never really noticed it before since the yucca hadn't bloomed; it was just a nice foliage accent. I've been waiting for both of them to bloom the last few weeks when I first saw the yucca stalk. I'll see if I can get a decent photo of them together tomorrow. Opportunistic indeed, but the phlox gives a pretty show with absolutely no effort on my part. Until I have to deadhead them all which is a royal pain, but if I do, the bloom just keeps going and the hummingbirds are ecstatic. Last year I decided to expand the phlox paniculata collection to take over after the phlox maculata show. It was a nice idea but the new woodchuck is chomping on all the paniculatas. It was never a problem before, but the dog from up the street who used to make rounds every day with his pal is no longer in action, so the woodchuck is getting bolder. Comments (10)I have been wanting to ask that exact question but have been reluctant to share my pics because I thought I read somewhere that beds should not be placed in corners. We recently had our MB painted and I rearranged the furniture because I felt it was too crowded with the headboard against the solid wall and the other wall has a window and I wasn't sure about having the headboard under the window. Now I kind of like it in the corner. I did a lot of internet searching for "angled beds" but did not come up with too much info. I hope that others will be able to help you. Here is the photo of my bed which I have had since a girl!...See MoreWhat do you store in your Angled Base Cabinet?
Comments (5)I have angled base and upper cabinets on each side of my corner oven cabinet. I was wondering what I would be able to put in those cabinets. I am pleasantly surprised at what I am able to store in them. The lowers have hinged doors on them so it should still be easy to access the contents once the counter tops are on. The angled uppers each have two doors.I have glassware in those cabinets. Here are some pictures of the lowers....See Morejean_ar
