Holiday cacti question

As a general rule, do Holiday Cacti do better in a plastic pot or a clay (terra cotta) pot. Thanks so much for those who give me their opinions!

I have two in clay and one in that Styrofoam stuff. They both do OK. I prefer clay but use what I have.

I've found them to do better in plastic, but I grow indoors only. That MAY be a factor.

Clay may help keep the roots cooler (outdoors), but since this plants are not for full sun (more partly shaded or bright, indirect light), that may not matter.

Am curious what others will suggest, interesting question.

Yes, they have similar requirements. Keep in mind that the resting period for the Rhipsalidopsis/Hatiora/Rhipsalis is a little different than for the Schlumbergeras. If you get a big enough pot, throw in a few hanging small Rhipsalis (not some thug like R. teres) and you will have a nice planter.

pg Thank you, I have it written down, and also checked out few links posted on another thread. Still, I am never sure so prefer not to ID them myself. I had couple more small cuttings (same as one with buds), but probably "killed it with kindness". This one is sole survivor, and I have to say it started to do some growing when I started to neglect it! I think I watered them too much to begin with (after I callused them first). Hi! Not sure if you're still looking (I see this post is *old*) but I have 2 thanksgiving cacti and would love to trade cuttings in the spring. One (unknown variety) blooms hot pink, the other is labeled "Thor" and the blooms look like this: Let me know if you're interested in doing a trade!

=( None here on Long Island. I went looking at my favorite local green houses, but only saw 2 at different places for about 30$. It was more than I wanted to pay, but both had woody growth below and fairly tight green growth above. I might still pop for one, but I was hoping to catch one on sale. I was also hoping to luck into a true christmas cactus or even an easter variety.
