Is it ruellia caroliniana? I've grown other ruellia from seed pretty easily. In general, you should move and divide plants in the fall. How familiar are you with General gardening? Clearing the area you want them to move to is probably step one. Plants will naturally move into open locations adjacent to where they're currently growing.

Macranthos, yes, I'm pretty sure it is. The photo above is from my yard last year. Here is where it's growing...see the bare spot near the fence? (Looks like a jungle in the woods but it's not - morning glory, honeysuckle and Virginia creeper all over fence)

Here's a closer shot... If you squint really hard you can see new plants not in bloom yet. From the rock on the left at about 2:00 is one.

Would you pot it up or replant? Where it is now, it'll be cut down with the lawn mower or the dog will trample it.

The wild petunia in my yard spreads all around.It especially likes to grow out of the boulders surrounding my beds.You can try collecting seeds and planting them where you want more plants.

I was told not to try to dig up but to let it run, which I do. It seeds out and pops up here and there but hasn't made a large clump. I can even accidentally mow it down, and it comes back. Just bought a white version. Anyway, it may have deeper roots than it appears, since the very experienced person told me not to try to move it.

It's pretty hard to get rid of. I pulled a lot of it to give some room to annual vine seedlings and it all grew back.It seems to grow better if left where it comes up.It's nice as an outer edging growing out of the large river rocks here and there,but I wouldn't want it all the way around. I let violets do the same thing on the shady side. If the ruellia shows up in a bed where I don't want it I make sure to get it all out.Nice thing is you never have to buy any more plants because there are always new ones popping up somewhere.
