Japanese Beetles on my Stella Cherry - what's a guy to do?
Comments (4)Japanese beetles killed my new sweet cherry tree around five years ago. We used to get thousands of them. Since then, I have put down milky spore in the lawn about 5 times and only see maybe a hundred in a season now. I regularly pick them and kill them in soapy water. Milky spore takes a while but it really seems to work....See MoreJapanese Beetles are eating my peaches
Comments (1)Until more experienced growers post you might want to do what we do. We do not have it bad as you but the first thing you can do is to pick as many of the tree as possible and drown them in some soapy water. Unlike other insects they are easy to grab for us and take care of them. I believe the spray we use will kill them but I would not spray the trees if the peaches are near harvesting. Side note we keep our trees at 10 to 12 feet tall so we can cover them with frost blanket/netting and pick the fruit without a ladder. - Dave...See MoreMy first Japanese Beetle sighting
Comments (3)I've had more than I have had in previous years, but not an onslaught. Still, I'm being vigilant. Each one killed is less next year. Hopefully....See MoreSaw my first japanese beetle of the season

They showed up in KC a year or two ago, but so far so good here. If we ever get heavily intested -- it's time to move again!...See Morefortunerose_6a
