Flower colour change in 'Duchesse de Nemours'.

I started adding peonies to our mixed perennial beds in 2012 to help cover our June flowering slump.

The one 'Duchesse de Nemours' I added then, flowered white, as expected, until last year. At that time one flower (at least) on the plant looked pink. The pictures below are from June 15 of this year; more pink.

I've always deadheaded all our peonies, in the interests of neatness and also as part of thinning the beds out prior to perennial blooming in July/August.

Is volunteer seeding nevertheless likely what happened here? So I couldn't have got every single spent bloom? There's a large pink 'Sarah Bernhardt' (planted at the same time) right next to the 'Duchesse de Nemours'.

This is the only case of any of our (30 or so) peonies showing any noticeable colour change since they were planted.
