A/C vent leaking in one of the bedrooms
Comments (6)If the problem is being caused from your AC and not a coincidental plumbing issue you have a condensation problem either the supply tap is probably improperly insulated if this not the problem the supply tap may be close to the unit and the unit has a plugged drain or is improperly insulated, next you should look at the filter (actually first) a plugged filter will slow down airflow and decrease supply air temp creating a greater chance of condensation on metal surfaces Here is a link that might be useful: Air Conditioning Repair made Easy...See MoreSewer Smell/Plumber says not vent -- A/C cause?
Comments (11)I JUST WANTED to say that I live in an upstairs aparment and I have a horrible smell that comes through my vents...like sulfur or gas...it is so often that it makes me feel a little sick...Atleast three times in 24hrs it will blow out very strong through the vents..By tme U can get managment here the smell fades and they say we cant smell it...In my bathroom there is plastic pvc pipe and it sticks out into my shower right behind where my ac is where u change filters..this place has plumbing problems all the time/apt complex. Recently just right outside my section they did some plumbing work...this smell didn't start till afterwards...I am concerned because I don't know what it is and these people overr don't care to inverstigate it...it smells like gas...whatever it is I can't take much more.. I am single with a two yr old boy and I honestly think it is making us sickMy incle called the health dept but no word yet...does anyone have any advice...what is this how does it make us sick...what can I do......See MoreAC plenum in crawlspace sweating?
Comments (4)It seems likely to me the problem may be excessive moisture in your crawlspace. If the crawlspace is vented as most are, consider that you have hot humid air surrounding the outside of the building. Now you bring that humid air into the crawlspace where it is nice and cool..The humid outside air reaches saturation point in the crawlspace and anything just slighly cooler like you ductwork is going to sweat. Check the humidity in your crawlspace. Solution could be sealing the crawlspace to installing a dehumidifier. I believe that the the latest trend in new crawlspace construction is to seal and insulate them to prevent moisture and mold problems....See MorePaint in AC vents? Is this normal?
Comments (6)Hmm sounds like another "builder grade" problem. LOL. Kevin mentioned it's due to "spray on paint" ----- builders don't roll on paint. There's videos of some pro painters on YouTube that show them painting = err spray painting a room in under 10 minutes. (Beating previous records if you can imagine that.) In the new home builder realm, it's more about speed. How fast can someone get it done. Because the faster you are the more money you make. Some builders like to talk quality this and that... but it's mostly "talk". (I like to call it yickety yack, ha-ha) So the grill is placed and magically the "over spray" disappears. -magic. In new home build it's about what you can see. The real question is: after two weeks of living here, why are you removing the AC vents? Inquiring minds want to know.....
