Known as lazy battery effect or battery memory, is an effect observed in nickel cadmium (NiCd) rechargeable batteries that causes them to hold less charge. It describes one very specific situation in which certain NiCd batteries gradually lose their maximum energy capacity if they are repeatedly recharged after being only partially discharged. The battery appears to "remember" the smaller capacity. This memory effect is caused by buildup of crystalline formations on the cell plates which increase resistence and lower the voltage of the affected cells. 1. Test the NICAD batteries using the battery tester to determine whether the NICAD batteries are fully discharged. 2. Locate the negative and positive nodes on the NICAD rechargeable battery. The negative node is on the flat end and the positive node is on the raised, bumpy end of the battery. 3. Put on all recommended safety gear. 4. Attach and hold the black clamp from the 12-volt battery charger to the negative end of the NICAD battery. 5. Rap the positive end of the battery with the red clamp from the 12-volt battery charger. This may cause the battery to emit sparks. It is part of the process of resetting the NICAD battery's memory. 6.Hold both the black and the red clamps on the appropriate negative and positive ends, respectively, of the NICAD battery for 1 to 3 seconds maximum. Release both clamps. 7.Retest the NICAD battery with the battery tester to determine whether the NICAD battery's memory has been fully reset. 8. Repeat the NICAD battery resetting process if necessary ...... DVOM or regular meter will work just fine Thanks, Hybrid Guru. JKS

I have never resolved the problem, but have found a way that works for a period of time. I got a large dog crate. It's big enough to hold a litter box, a large cushion for him to sleep on, and bowls of food and water. When he acts out against one of my cats, I put him in the crate for a time out. At first I just left him in it for half a day. That didn't really help. I found that it's most helpful to leave him in the crate for at least 24 hours, and at times for longer, depending on how bad his behavior was on that particular occasion. The crate is in my basement which is below grade, so it's always in the 60s there. The isolation is what seems to be the key to this working. When I crate him, I don't go down to the basement except once or twice to clean the litter box. And when I do that, I make sure he understands that I am very angry with him by speaking harshly to him and telling him how bad he is. When he's out and starts to act out, I yell CRATE at him so that he begins to understand what's coming if he doesn't stop the behavior. I have left him crated for as long as two days. But when he comes out of the crate, his behavior changes for, sometimes weeks at a time. And I constantly praise and pet him when he starts his aggressive behavior and when yelling CRATE immediately stops it. Good luck, this has been ongoing for 5 years now, but this method has drastically improved things.

A couple of years ago a friend of mine changed dial-up ISP's and could not log on to his brokerage's site (a VERY LARGE company). I talked with the broker's tech people and the ISP's tech people; the techs at the brokerage and ISP even talked to each other. They couldn't figure it out. I felt responsible because I had recommended the ISP so I began hunting for clues and fixes on the internet. FINALLY, on day 3 I hit the motherlode and the problem was solved. Solution? I uninstalled and then reinstalled TCP/IP. I don't know exactly what I did by doing this, and I have no idea if it would help you, but if it's a possibility, maybe one of the gurus here could walk you through it.

After you floodfill w/pattern, add a new layer and drag it to the bottom. Have white up in your materials palette and activate your flood fill tool, then click on pattern image and flood fill. You will see the bottom layer turn white in your palette. Oooops, that is if you are using the wonderful PSPX version. Otherwise you have to run your mouse over your bottom layer to see if it is white. Then you click on the pattern layer in your palette to activate it and do the 28 opacity. ~~Urlee~~
