Craziest thing - Cant go to Yahoo!

I just did a fresh install of Win XP on my friend's old computer. I can visit any website I've tried, EXCEPT Yahoo. I was able to download Yahoo Messenger, but it won't get a connection when I try to use it. It seems like Yahoo doesn't like my new computer for some reason. Any ideas? Thanks!

make sure it is not for some reason on the non trusted list in your browser or is not blocked by a firewall possibly. is this happening with both IE and firefox? oh do you mean the yahoo website/email or the yahoo IM client?

Sorry about your thread op. I dont think the people picked or attacked you but people are passionate about plants. It was nice of a local Okla. person to pipe up to try and clarify the situation that you found the plants in. It didnt sound like a area that was going to be spayed or regraded if there was that diverse of variety. A few years ago driving down a logging road I saw the most beautiful white and red wild columbine all by its lonesome with other wild flowers but only the one columbine. We got lost and was driving back by an hour later to find two women digging it up. You mentioned going back with 5 gallon pails. So I think people wanted to make sure you knew what effect things like that can have. Lots if people are naive to things like that and I think the other posters where shocked like I was, most places around where I live ditch or not plants 'weeds' or not are left for all to enjoy. I did find another one of those columbines on a lake beach last year which just has ripe seeds which I took some of but still scattered a few incase the plant didnt make it. If there was alot of these plants and you had the right kind of garden to transplant them into and wernt taking away the chance of a plant to naturalize in a area. I would think it would be ok.

You no the old saying about NE weather. "if you don't like it, wait a minute". It's been crazy all spring and summer. I've had well over 12 inches of rain in the past few weeks. My toms are a disaster of fungus from all the water. Never had a problem with toms before, 28 years of gardening and growing them and never had bugs or any disease till this year. Except for 4 hornworms on one little tiny time last year. Weeds are loving this and my hydrangeas have never been so beautiful, but they are begging for the faucet to shut off too now. Those leaves you saw turning are not from early cool temps. That is a sign of stress to the trees. When trees get stressed badly, they will start to turn their leaves early. They've been going though the same insane weather we have too. Just hope this isn't a sign of a bad, snowy and cold winter to come. Fran

Hi phoggie, I'm a bit confused over this ... you say that the door won't shut if the sunlight hits the sensor in a certain way. So ... it's open, right? But then, if you want the car out, you have to get it out before sunrise ... or wait till after noon ... which tells me that the door won't open to let you move your car out during that period. Which leads me to the conclusion that the sunlight forces the door to stay shut for that period. I try to keep a fairly open mind ... but I'm having a hard time getting closure over this one. ole joyful

My kitchen remodel fits In the everyone thinks I'm nuts category. Virtually every item in the room is salvaged. The cabinets, granite and fridge came from a demolition sale, the dishwasher, sink and faucet were installed in the old kitchen by the previous owner, and the light fixtures are from ReStore. The kitchen floor was the most work and it is fabulous. We removed it from a century old house being torn down, pulled all the old nails, racked it, bundled it with shrink wrap and stored it for a few years (even before we had bought the house!). Then we installed this floor in my remodel so that every piece of visible wood is one continuous piece. The short pieces down the center are over 6 feet, there's a section just over 8 feet and 2 boards across the stairway landing are 12 feet long. It is a mix of rift sawn and quarter sawn oak. I don't have any photos yet which do justice to the floor but it is stunning.

SusieQ, that's not the problem. I can't even load www.yahoo.com, or any related Yahoo sites.

Ravencajun, I turned Windows Firewall off. The only firewall is my router, and I know that isn't the problem, because my other computers work fine, but yes, I'm having the problem with both IE and Firefox. The websites won't connect, AND Yahoo Messenger gives up because it can't find a connection.

A couple of years ago a friend of mine changed dial-up ISP's and could not log on to his brokerage's site (a VERY LARGE company). I talked with the broker's tech people and the ISP's tech people; the techs at the brokerage and ISP even talked to each other. They couldn't figure it out.

I felt responsible because I had recommended the ISP so I began hunting for clues and fixes on the internet. FINALLY, on day 3 I hit the motherlode and the problem was solved. Solution? I uninstalled and then reinstalled TCP/IP.

I don't know exactly what I did by doing this, and I have no idea if it would help you, but if it's a possibility, maybe one of the gurus here could walk you through it.

Don't know that this is the problem ,BUT Yahoo is now somehow affilliated with ATT. Maybe they bought them out. Not Sure. Grady
