checking in too too often.

When I am home and taking a break from anything- (relaxing, reading, weeding, cleaning) I pop on the computer and check out the forums. I feel like I must be looking here way too much and too often as there is barely any activity. I guess I am trying to stir things up a touch and bemoaning the fact that most of you seem to lead busier lives................sigh. I really do have family and friends and work and stuff but i guess I just enjoy this too much?

Hey, you guys are my friends and I just like to make sure that everyone is happy and busy and safe. So, yup, I check in on a regular basis as well.

My life isn't all that interesting so I don't have any interesting subjects on which to build a thread, I rely on the busy people to do that. :)

I find there's always a flurry of posts, some days more than others.

Always something interesting to read and comment on.

That said, it's the summer season and people tend to be out enjoying things and taking vacations.

I live in SW PA, and I'm also mowing twice per week, sometimes more if its been raining heavily. My neighbors are doing it half as often, but their lawns don't look as good. I think the one problem with really frequent mowing is if your mower blades aren't sharp, in which case you're opening the grass blades to repeated injury and several possible diseases. Keep your blades sharp, and check out the cut tips of the grass now and then, make sure they're sharply cut and not ragged.

Perhaps it's the control valve. There are so many perhaps here without someone qualified to check the unit anything would be a guess. You will need to spend a few dollars and get a technician in to check the unit for the cause properly. The first thing you mention is that it is "NEW", this should be a warranty issue if indeed new, check your paperwork for the sale and installation warranties.

String algae spores are pretty much everywhere. The best you can hope for control, not eradication. So don't let the whole thing dry out. That will just kill all the good bacteria living on all the surfaces inside the pond. If you take out the fish, you could use algaefix to kill off as much of the string algae as possible before draining. The dead algae is going to use up a lot of oxygen as it decomposes which is dangerous to the fish even if the algaefix is fish safe. Then once it's dead you can muck it out with the rest. Once the pond is cleaned out, I'd clean up the baskets and put them on risers like bricks to keep them off the bottom. That will make the bottom easier to keep vacuumed when you notice detritus building up. Some people like a bit of detritus for little insect critters and such but too much can quickly become a problem.

Too much water coming in and filling up the pit faster than usual, so the pump runs more frequently... it's normal under such conditions.

I check way too often also. Between here and city-data time turns into a black hole and before you know it the day is shot!

thanks for the validation ladies (assuming that?) - nice to know I am not alone. And yes HK between here and city data and might I add FB it's a good thing I guess that I work outside of the home.

Add me to the list of 'often checkers'. I also spend a lot of time playing cards and before that (back in the day) I crafted. Life moves on. Is it so wrong not to be "alone" with nothing but your thoughts? This at least gives me something other than my troubles to think about!!

I posted on other GW boards occasionally but have lurked on this conversation board for many years. I check in many times a day.

I think I began checking in more frequently after President Obama was elected. I live in a very, very conservative area. Checking in here kept me sane during these past eight years. I'm truly not trying to make this political. I know the Conservatives here sometimes feel "ganged up on" because that's how I feel IRL. And I just wish the conversations around my workplace could be half as respectful and intelligent.

One of these days, I'm going to get brave and ask for help from the Home Decorating board. But I think I will be hanging out here for as long as y'all will have me.

I lurked for a long time after getting so much support here. I couldn't participate for personal reasons but needed/wanted to stalk to keep up with everyone.

After having to log in to graciously acknowledge an updated comment on one of my old threads, I can't stay away.

I don't know that I have a lot to contribute but I'm happy to log in and be back on the grid. :)
