Depending on where you ordered from, many nurseries are happy to send replacements if you contact them explaining that it died....or at least send you a refund if the plant's no longer in season to have in stock. I had a couple of ordered plants die last spring and got replacements from both companies after contacting them. ;)

You should have no problems growing goji. They grow well in both temperate and hot climates, and they are drought tolerant. They germinate easily from dried berries available at health food stores. There is a variety that grows in the desert in arizona - lycium exsertum, which I hope to get some of at some point, but I've used up my seed budget: �Lycium exsertum. (a!,h) LYCI-22. Packet: $2.50 'WOLFBERRY'. Profuse small lavender flowers followed by abundant bright red edible berries. Spiny shrub to 3 - 6 feet. Low deserts, Arizona and M�xico. Very drought resistant. The berries were eaten in great quantities by the Indians, fresh, cooked, or dried like raisins. Good wildlife shrub. Germinates in 2 - 6 weeks. Good for you Tessa. Nothing like getting a new plant in the ground. I had to forego mine because there wasn't a good bed made for it. So, the weeds consumed it and it disappeared. I hope you'll do better than I did. One day, I'll be starting them again. Were I you and you are working with cuttings, I'd pot them up and get the roots well developed before I put them in the ground. If you have enough cuttings, why not try both and then report back to everyone what you had the most success with. Since we haven't hit our last freeze date, whatever you put in the ground will need to be protected before the last freeze. I planted some Firecracker Plants last Fall and didn't want them to freeze back till they developed much better roots. So, I spent this winter covering each of my 3 plants to insure that they grow and be ready to take off this Spring. Now, those pots had roots, but bowing bound and determined... I'm counting of these being in bloom when the first hummingbird scouts come through Temple and that it all call them to stay long enough until the Turk's Cap starts sending up leaves/blooms. If not, the the red Salvias in that Hummingbird Island will definitely be definitely be blooming as I see greens leaves on most all of them. You should be just fine! Had a bush growing for several years about 4 foot tall and picked berries, this picture from out town after several frost and when the plant was dieing for some reason. Got some little one's growing again.
