Happy Birthday, Sara the Brit
Comments (20)What a wonderful surprise! I hadn't been at the Party for a couple of days (I do read most days), so this was lovely to open up this morning! Thank you for all your lovely and generous words. The boat? Ah, the boat. Well, we have finally accepted it's a bit more than we can manage on our own, and when we started out the step-offspring joined in, but now one has a Small Person, and the other is about to have a Small Person, and their time is understandably used up. Himself decided to start a whole new career and we've had hardly any time on the boat this summer at all. So we decided to put her up for sale: BUT it takes years for something this size to sell, so we're confidently still planning improvements, and anticipating next summer's plans. But, with luck, the work we've put it will mean we will make a bit of money (and maybe buy something a BIT more manageable!)....See MoreButterflies of Alabama
Comments (3)I bought the book up at Fort Toulouse in Wetumpka,Alabama. They keep nature-based books as well as a lot of Fort- related books, other stuff. When Bartram was down south 1700s I only wish I could see the landscape he saw with all those butterflies for sure. The fort has a visitor's center that sells a lot of books. There is a very nice RV park .The fort is a 1717-1763 French fort.It has a French garden that butterflies like. The garden has raised beds And herbs. We go up there a lot. Comments (33)Of romy's photos, I like that last tile color the best. I can almost picture it as a pale gray with a little bit of a green/blue undertone. ;) The second photo is the most interesting to me. There they've used a stacked mosaic glass tile. I love the little white shelf that matches the grout color. You'd really want the aqua stove too, don't you think? I also like the updated square tiles in photo 6. That would be appropriate to your house. I grew up in a 1954 Cape in upstate NY and we had square blue tiles in the bathroom, and a blue sink, toilet, and bathtub! Has it ever bothered you how the open storage wall was tiled? Typically we recommend stopping at the upper cabinet, not the counter. My eye keeps going to that inch or so of tile that juts beyond the upper cab....See MoreSara-Ann Z6B OK
