Comments (9)Hmmm.. except for your sandy soil, don't raised beds mean you have to water more often in AZ? I'd THINK the bed that has the rosemary and thyme would be the place for the sage, it likes full sun. I can think of several reasons for it not doing well... over/under fertilization or over/under watering. Without a picture, that's the best I can do. I had a great place for a salvia officinalis and I put two in there and they promptly died, but the thyme has happily taken over. Could be that the salvia was too root bound when I put it in there, it was too shocked when I put it in there... or even something that's in that spot in the soil. If you need more than that, I, myself, could only diagnose better with a picture. Hope that helps some....See MoreGrowing Palm from seed problems.....
Comments (6)Your seeds have already germinated. Once the radicle is outside of the seed, it has germinated. A radicle isn't a root. The plant will always grow in the right direction due to built in mechanisms to sense gravity. You don't have to worry about it....See MoreNovice problems growing from seed
Comments (1)No experience with T5HO lights, but white mold does sound like you're over-watering. I don't use "seed starting mix" because it tends to be mostly vermiculite. I use Pro-Mix potting mix and usually add extra perlite. I prefer to water from the top because I have better control.... I give it water until I see water coming from the bottom of the pot. To judge if it needs water, I go by the color of the potting mix and the weight of the pots (it's lighter in both color and weight when it's dry). HTH....See MoreTrying to grow common Sage from seed - Arrrrrrrgh!!!!
Comments (1)I am 2 zones cooler than you, and had success winter sowing. I think they germinate in cool temps, or need stratification. Try sowing in the cooler months, and check out the winter sowing forum. Or maybe figure out a way to keep them cooler before germination?...See More- 7 years agolast modified: 7 years ago
