Spray with Malathion or Permethrin if you you want to stop the aphids. Once you do that,the tree should recover.

Does Permethrin deter them? I needy I stop the spread today I pruned out the tree heavily completely hosed the down very well with water than sprayed what was left with light spray of hort oil.

I can get malathion here does it work well I don't think the other stuff is available

Both of these will kill aphids in short order. I also spray the trunk and ground around the base of the tree to get any ants that may be carrying more aphids up the tree when I use permethrin. I don't know where you are located,but permethrin should be fairly easy to find. One of the many advantages it has over Malathion is that it doesn't have that horrific odor. It also is effective on plum curculios.

The problem is the tips are so gangaled spraying anything on it does nothing they are sheltered in deep of the rolls. I've just been pruning them out.

Next year, watch your trees earlier in the season so that you can react with lo-tox methods -- such as harsh water spray or insecticidal soap -- while the populations and damage are minor.

There is always a systemic. Bayer has a product. Research it and see if you are interested.

Have you guys ever seen a few different types of aphids at once ?

Right now I can find black cherry looking aphids. Flying aphids and tons of wingless . ive been using the hose to spray the trees every second day but it's very hard to get the green wingless types that are curled up in the leafs up high. I've been starting to prune out infested areas or snipping the leafs off .

Is horticulture oil harmful to the lady Beatles ? There is a lot of them and a lot of parasitic wasps even normal wasps I've been seeing feeding on them.

We have some ants too using them, last year when I put tape around the trees it killed so many other insects and not many ants. And it needed to be changed out every couple days

We are having the aphids on plumb problem. Started a systemic last year and repeated this spring. Spraying daily this year. Aphids seem to enjoy the attention. ಠ⌣ಠ

ive been using hose almost daily I'm starting to wonder if I'm overwatering now or going to cause moisture issues

Perhaps I should have said ''washing down daily with the hose'' She may have sprayed with an insecticide once or twice. Leaves are quite knurled.

Blasting them off with a hose does little good. The ants will bring them back.

I have been pruning and spraying with oil and pretty much blast every night with water because I find winged ones landing on undamamaged leafs.

My toka plum has lots of fruits this year lots are shrivelling up that are on infested branches. It's so disheartening
