Nikki - It's funny but about 30-some years ago, my family almost moved to Texas (Austin IIRC) due to the possibility of my father's job relocating there. It was then decided that his employer would stay put here. One of my BILs has a brother and family in Texas... small world! Thanks for the compliments on my plants. You too can fill up your space so much that it is difficult to navigate from one end to the other. For me, it's faster to go from one end to the other via the inside (I have 2 doors to the outside). LOL But then it's one of my many hobbies and I enjoy it immensely. Since you are using terracotta - you might consider getting the foam equivalent that is terracotta color. Most are painted to look aged to make them look even more like the real thing. However the foam will be able to weather the elements better and would definitely be lighter. The herb wall sounds cool... uh oh.... heh... you are enabling me now. :-p Anyway, wish you luck and if you can post pictures of your progress, that would be great!

Yes, I harvested seeds from it last fall by pulling the seeds out of the fruit. I have stored them in the fridge for the last year not knowing what to do with them. I don't know if they would be viable any longer. I may just scatter them on the ground outside near the other plant and let nature take it's course. These new seeds will be treated according to the information I have found on Solomons Seal and Winter Sowing. I am also considering dividing the root. It says to do it on plants that are several years old. Mine is at least 4 years old. Thanks, Bruce

chris_in_nc - Hi...your plant is Ipomoea hederacea...sometimes it produces the somewhat 3 lobed ivy-like leaves and sometimes the leaves are partially lobed or remain heart shaped as in Ipomoea hederacea var.integriuscula... Hope that helps... TTY,... Ron Here is a link that might be useful: Ipomoea hederacea in the PlantFiles

Well growing up on a farm in deep South Louisiana I have seen more armadillos than I ever wanted to. They are a horrible pest especially on the farm. They can destroy crops and are not easy to kill. Shooting them is dangerous because bullets and pieces of the armadillos hard shell can ricochet back and hit you. My dad was trying to kill one especially nasty critter under the house. Our house was slightly elevated so you could get under there. Our dog Poopie (I didn't name him!) ran after the armadillo right as daddy shot the armadillo a piece of the hard shell ripped off the critter and flew into Poopie's eye and put it out. The vet cleaned it up and he was fine. You would never know he was missing an eye. I have never eaten it but they do say it's a very pretty white meat similar to pork loin.
