White, sticky, powdery stuff on succulents. Help!

Here's a photo of one of my succulents that has developed some white sticky-like powder on its leaves. Leaves are dropping. It has spread to a neighboring succulent, so I need help identifying it and need to know what action to take. Can they be saved or do I have to remove them from my succulent garden to keep from infecting the other plants?

From what I can tell, you have a really bad infestation of mealy bug. Notice any white small fluffy clumps at all? The solution here, I hate to say, is probably to destroy everything with the overwhelming evidence, and spray and treat those plants only slightly affected...

Gee - I've never seen something like this on a black plant. There's a little voice telling me that maybe it just looks different because of the color of plant.

It may indeed be mealybugs. 'Tis the season. Or aphids. Or powdery mold. I've not had any mites so maybe that as well. Is it spreading to another Aeonium, or a different plant? Sticky makes me think of mealies or honeydew from aphids.

I would suggest trying to treat as one would for mealies or aphids. This thread on my bout with mealies gives some guidance -

Sounds like you have mealy bugs. If you have a lot, fill the sink with warm dish soap, put a plastic bag over the pot and soil to keep it from falling out, turn the pot upside down and swish only the foliage in the warm soapy water. Any remaining bugs, dip a q-tip in alcohol and dab at the bugs with it. Isolate infected plants from other plants so the bugs don't spread. Pam

Could be mealy bugs. Wipe away the 'white stuff' with a q-tip and alchol, it won't hurt the plant. And spray with a general insecticide. The link has some images and more info. Here is a link that might be useful: http://www.denverplants.com/foliage/html/Mealy.htm

many veg are hard to grow indoors ... and especially one.. that grows a large root mass for peanuts .. in a small pot .. you had fun with it.. throw it out.. and try a new devilish experiment ... its simply not worth spending a lot of money on trying to cure it ... its up to you .. but i figure.. if i have to spend $10 on a cure.. or go find another seed for peanuts... why spend the ten bucks... [see what i did there.. lol] now.. read up .. and if you find some common cures.. give them a try .. but if you lose ... so what.. live and learn ... BTW ... part of the problem is .. the mites are sucking the life out of those leaves .. and those leaves themselves.. are never going to 'heal' .... so even even you solve the mite issue... this plant isnt going to be looking any better .. BTW ... you better be checking ALL your plants.. and put this one in isolation [preferably in the garbage can .. lol] ken

Help ID'ing sticky stuff on floor of screened porch

It sounds like pine pitch except that you say 'no odor'. Until you mentioned the table (slats or not), I had assumed it was the ceiling boards dripping. Now I wonder if it is something oozing out of this floor rug?

My mother in law had it on hers. I just washed it with soapy water and rinsed it well. It's now clean growing fine.
