karate chopped pillows
Comments (33)The karate chopped pillow are a bit much for me, but then at my house a favorite past-time of the dogs is pushing pillows off sofas, so while we like our pillows,we do not put any great effort into pillow placement. A long-term close friend's mom who is 96 still has a sofa covered in plastic, similar to the one above. My friend recently mentioned that her mom is thinking of removing the plastic, guess all the kid's have grown up enough now. My friend 54, is her youngest. This reminded us of the Raymond show where the entire family had been bugging Raymond's mom to remove the plastic, she finally did and everyone was so worried about spilling, they asked her to put the plastic back on the sofa. Her house is a 1970's time capsule, love to visit it is exactly the same as when I was a kid....See Morekarate-chopped pillows
Comments (21)The first time I saw this look was years and years ago in Europe--way before it became fairly common in the US. I suspect that it also had something to do with the pillows being down as was mentioned earlier, so that the slump is somewhat automatic, and perhaps we've gone overboard with the "chop". It seems to be a more casual look so perhaps that's also what those using it were trying to achieve....See MoreDo you iron your bed sheets?
Comments (68)I iron my top sheets and pillow cases. Any wrinkles in the fitted bottom sheet come out when you put it on the bed. I have tried to buy iron-free sheets but they are usually sateen sheets and even though they are 100% cotton, my husband and I don't like the feel of them. We like crisp, fairly heavy sheets and they are hard to find, especially if one's on a budget. I have one perfect set and 3 other not so perfect sets in addition to sets that have gone to Goodwill because we hated them....See MoreWhat design trend do you regret or are glad you didn't do?
Comments (35)Sarah I was going to say sponge painting too lol! Not necessarily a bad look, but the aforementioned bedrooms in my first home were done poorly in ugly colors by the teens of the previous owner. One room was smurf blue, so it looked like a smurf blew up in there. With red shag carpet no less! The other room we called the "mudroom" because of the wall color . . . None of that was "trendy" but to the taste of the teens, and I already mentioned the horror of my teen bedroom. My dear mother tried to keep it under control, but I had bright pink zinnia wallpaper and purple shag carpet. And bright white painted furniture with psychedelic trim elements in orange, pink, lime green, bright blue and purple . . . It was the bomb! Sock it to ya! But, as a cautionary tale, I would say try and keep teen room design elements to those easily replaced. It took two coats of paint before my splatter painted walls looked flat with color. I would not be able to function in my former bedroom, but I kind of wax nostalgic for my little brother's wallpaper with the small print of astronauts and rocket ships against a white background. That was less of a moment for regret, although not necessarily something an adult would like, unless they were terribly sentimental. He acquiesced to just one accent wall . . . I think after my room, my wallpapering parents were burned out!!...See Moreingrid_vc so. CA zone 9
