What color and style of pulls would you use on this dresser?
Please excuse the mess of a room right now. This is for a nursery and will stay in the room as the child grows. The top will also serve as a changing table. The finish on the dresser is good except for one area that got a little dinged when we brought it home (CL). I'd prefer not to paint this piece.
The pulls have to go. I removed one for the pic. What style and color? I was thinking simple ORB pulls. Bin or cup pulls are a possibility. I'm not opposed to satin nickel, but the ceiling fan we'll be installing will probably match the others in the house which are wood and ORB. The other fan option is white. The drill holes are 3" center to center.
Thoughts? Thanks!
ETA - I'd prefer the curtain rods in this room be ORB or black so maybe I should forget the idea of a nickel pull. Don't think I want white rods.

7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoAnd if it helps you can see the rocker and crib panel (propped against wall) in the above photo. They're both an espresso color. I know they don't 'match' the dresser wood, but they are more temporary to the room than the dresser. Eventual headboard will probably be painted.
This is the crib skirt and I did get some of these sub sheets, but have other patterns and a few solids with similar colors for a mix. No bumper, blanket, or other soft things will be used in crib.
Walls will be BM Manchester Tan. Curtains will probably be navy. Blinds are 2" white.

Comments (36)Just a thought. Do you have to have some of the caramel in the counter? Once you choose a counter with caramel, your counter becomes less neutral and perhaps less timeless. I know you have caramel tones in your wood, but wood is supposed to be neutral so your are not required to repeat.it. Not saying the caramel is not nice and would not look great, but I just want to be sure you see that you could go with a counter with more neutral colours in it if that was what you find. As for what to to..here are some ideas: light white and blue, with some crackle modpodge some funky maps or something on the drawers and paint the outside a beachy color paint a light color and distress the edges paint it a beach color and take out a drawer or two and use baskets instead Milk paint is a great paint, but it will stain easily even with water contact, so keep that in mind. You can also use latex paint and get a unique effect if you paint it with VERY little paint on the brush. I call it dry brushing, I don't know if there's a "real" term for it. I've done it on a bunch of pieces for our home (a former cottage). Comments (3)You can go as large as to leave about 18" of floor around the perimeter, or you can wait until the bar stools are in place and see if leaving the same amount of floor exposed on all sides of the rug works. Painter's tape will be your friend in trying different sizes taped out on the floor. Comments (12)YES thank you I totally agree, especially even more so as I slowly redo and rearrange other pieces, couch, light fixtures curtains etc. I like the look of blended chalk paint colors or using red as main color, green or sum contrast color as dry brush or peeking out under red after sanding. I know you said you'd prefer not to paint and it is a nice dresser......but I think you should reconsider only because it seems too grown up or serious for a nursery. If you painted it the navy blue that came up in another thread you posted, it would look cute with some whimsical knobs and it would still be age appropriate when he gets older.

7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoLukki - Sorry I wrote my last post in a hurry and should have just waited until I had a few more min. I like a mix of stained and painted pieces in a kid room. We'll probably eventually buy a headboard second hand and it's usually easier, and gives more options, to paint so I figure the headboard will later be painted. I plan to add art and toys and all that kid stuff.
Actually DS1's room has too many painted pieces for my preference, but I don't have the energy to strip any of the furniture right now so it is what it is. And it looks fine for now. A while back I was going to strip the night stand in that room, but it will have to wait at least until spring. I'm still not feeling super, unfortunately.
Tibb - You're right about holes and dowel rods. A lot of the fun hardware tends to be knobs though and not pulls. I'll have to look around more. I also don't want to spend a fortune on them. I'd have to find something that really is captivating to me.
Hmmm... maybe some type of nautical pull.
Not seeing much so far that aren't knobs.
Rope pull from Anthro.
Iron and jute, 3" from Anthro.
Wrap some pulls.
Some other DIY handles. Showing with stained wood.
Rugged rope with tied knots. I think this would be hard to do.
I think it would be fun to find a fish, lobster, or whale pulls. So far the few I'm seeing look serious and like they belong in a lake house.
What about painted pulls? Red, blue, or white?
Pumpin out ideas... colored pulls wrapped in twine.
