Auntie, no, I don't have a car with that capability, mine is 8 years old this July ;-) I'm thinking about trading it in end of this year but have no pressing reason to - other than I've driven it every day for 8 years. So, I haven't bought or driven a car with auto braking. My brothers car does that, although he's only mentioned it braking and surprising him one time. If its happening more frequently, I don't know if he'd necessarily tell me his car is paying closer attention than he is ;-) Sounds like it could be a standard feature in our future, up to now - mostly found in luxury cars and higher-end models.

Oh my, our newest vehicle is a 2004 Jeep. I think it's a great concept, as long as it never malfunctions. I really like the back up camera and the sensors on the side view mirrors that that lights up and beeps letting you know someone is close to you. SIL has that in her new vehicle.

My husband's new truck does that beeping if gets close to something when backing up which is good because the truck is so high off the ground it's difficult to see smaller things behind you. We did have a brand new in the box camera to go in the truck or the rv to see behind you. But it drowned in the flood. It was in the bottom drawer of his desk.

Ihave never beenin a vvehicle that has the auto braking. Sometimes I wish we did have it.

I have a 20014 Ford Escape. That feature is probably with an upgrade.

mine beeps when I am backing out to warn me of cross traffic, beeps if I am pulled up close to a car ahead of me, and beeps of course going in reverse.

my fanciest feature is auto parking. I am afraid to try it. Living in a suburb I really have to parallel park my car.

Heck, I don't even like Cruise Control. Our '05 car has the warning beeps when the car's in reverse.

I want cars to be required to clock cell phone transmissions when they are in motion. That would stop more accidents than these other features -- especially among our youth.

I have one and have had no problems. It "yells" at me when it thinks I'm getting too close to a slowing or stationary object in front of me, which can be annoying but not a problem.

A Collision Avoidance system is an option that was available when I bought my car in January 2013, but I did not want it, nor did I get it. What is standard on my car is Brake Assist -- it detects "panic braking" by the force/how fast the driver steps on the brake pedal, and it increases the braking pressure. Also standard is Electronic Brakeforce Distribution which automatically varies the amount of brake force applied to each wheel based on the road conditions, speed, and load distribution in the car.

My car also has a wide-view backup camera with cross-traffic alert; blind spot monitor; and intuitive parking assist (it doesn't park itself -- it alerts you with beeps and a visual on the multimedia display when you are getting too close to an object).

All of the above, as well as everything else that is on/in my car, is enough for me.

When on cruise control, the speed varies keeping my car an appropriate distance from the car in front. If a car moves in front of me too close, my car brakes to get that appropriate distance from that car. (Hope that makes sense.) The first time the car braked on its own, it was surprising. If I was going to actually hit something and not on cruise control, not sure if the car would brake. Didn't want to experiment with that.

It also beeps if I wander too close to the lane marker without signaling that I'm changing lanes.

The back-up camera is wonderful.

No, but I have a back up camera and the beeping thing. The mirrors also blink when someone is in my blind spot.

I think this is slowly but surely leading to self driving cars. I love the idea of being a passenger in my own car and no backseat driving
