Comments (4)Thanks all! Yes we really like the current kitchen, and it took quite a bit to decide to change it. Even though we're not making any big layour changes, the color and material changes will make it much different feeling to us, but we know that it will function well. We several times have had holiday dinners for 30+ people. remodelfla: Yes, there's a 38" walkway between the end of the island and the area for the microwave and fridge. colorado_mom: We're in Niwot, just north of Boulder....See Morecontracting company won't finish the rebuild what to do?
Comments (7)Hi It would have help if I know what state you are. Does the company have a license? I am a license contractor in California, so I base my recommendation on the law here If a contractor stop work for more then 30 days, you have a claim, you can force him to return all your money, include for job that already done, and even more. If the license number not match the company letter head and/or the person that sign it, the contract is illegal and you can request all your money back. If the person sign the contract not register under company license, the contract is illegal. If you pay more then 10% or max $1,000.00 the contract is illegal. I believe the law or some of it are apply to most states. I would highly recommend you to contact the contractor state board, in your state, it will save you money and time on lawyers Also contact the BBB and check how is their record, and file a complain Good luck Here is a link that might be useful: California Contractor State Board...See MoreContracts are signed! Comments (3)Congrats, christine40! It's very exciting, isn't it? Our goal is to get our new kitchen done before our fridge, also from the 80's dies -- there's no way to get it out without taking out the cabinets. There's a wall on 1 side of it, cabinets on the other, and a line of cabinets less than 2' across from it. Your design sounds lovely, good luck!...See MoreMerry Christmas--demo beginning! AHHHHH!
Comments (4)Fun fun fun! Enjoy the ride. LOVE the sledgehammer comment. That was BY FAR the best part of my demo. Taking a sledgehammer to my vile countertop. I highly recommend it. Good catharsis as the frustrations of renovating start piling up ... I'm mid-reno too, got my cabs in just in time for Christmas. Now that's a great present!...See Moreravencajun Zone 8b TX
