Own-root roses in pots... growing slow...

I've got 6 young own-root roses growing in 3-gallon pots in my yard (except for one tiny band that is still in a 1-gal). They get full morning sun and dappled shade in the afternoon. Our daytime temps are in the high 80s-low 90s. I've had two plants since March, the rest since early April and they have done absolutely nothing in the past 2 months. They've all had a light feeding of alfalfa and kelp meal about 2 weeks ago. Am I just too impatient? I've grown own-root roses before and I know they grow slow but this is the first time I've tried them in pots.
