Having 2nd thoughts about ID
Comments (4)Thanks for the reply. I've been calling this plant the wrong name for over 30 years. Maybe that's why it refuses to die despite my many attempts, almost all inadvertent, to kill it. It just wants the right name on its' tombstone. It's never too late to right a wrong, or at least admit one. Wouldn't be hilarious if it went and died now? I understand if it's sick of me, but daggone it, I sure would like to see one of those flowers it can supposedly make. I know they're more more exciting than a Caladium flower, but we all want a flower-capable plant to make a flower, don't we? Trying not to be noticeably nicer to it so it doesn't realize I know the truth....See More2nd thoughts on Electrolux Icon Double Oven...
Comments (18)Additionally, the third time the Electrolux stopped working (under warranty), the man they sent was unable to do anything for some reason and left without giving me much info, other than I would have to remove the oven from the wall myself if I wanted it repaired. I then called the store I purchased it from who sent repairman the day after Thanksgiving and who brought several replacement parts with them, rather than having to order them. It worked for a week or two and then failed again and it was replaced this past January. In the meantime, at the end of January, more than 2 months after the Electrolux repairman had come out, Electrolux called and said my parts were in and they were approving the repair. I laughed, told them their customer service as well as the oven were terrible and hung up, as I'd already had the Bosch installed and the Electrolux was long gone. The point is, they never communicated that they had ordered a part, nor that they had to approve the repair, which was within the one year warranty period. Their approval finally came within one week of the warranty expiring, and i can't help but think that was intentional, so that the next break down would be out of the warranty period. Abysmal customer service....See MoreAny Need for 2nd Thoughts on New Lennox System?
Comments (19)A quick follow-up...I ended up going with my original set-up and the guys are here installing it now. Based on recommendations here, I inquired about the XP-19. I could have paired the XP-19 with a G60-110 (vs. G60-090) for $575 more (and just barely qualify for the tax credit). I ended up staying with my original set-up based on the recommendation of the installer and the fact that my wife always seems to be cold in the house. Figured that a straight gas furnace vs. HP would provide a more comfortable heat for her (G61 would have been up to $1,500+ more). While I may be sacrificing cost on the heating end, the EER/SEER of the system I am getting are higher so some offsetting benefit should be reaped on the cooling end which in DC area can be significant. Not any easy decision, but no looking back now. Another point of reference, I narrowed my bidders to two installers. The first gave the initial $7,495 bid. The other initially came in at $9,300. Second bidder eventually matched the $7,495 before first offered to throw in an AprileAire 600A for free to seal the deal. Felt more comfortable going with first installer as he didn't have to whack $1,800 off job and may have been inclined to cut corners. For $4,995 when rebates and tax credits are taken into account, I feel like I have gotten a fairly good bang for my buck. Agreed?...See MoreHelp! Need to pick stain color SOON & having 2nd thoughts!
Comments (2)hi blue... I'm sorry that this is so difficult for you..I had a somewhat reversed situation, in that I thought I wanted a white kitchen, (DH and DD hated the idea). DH was going to let me get white anyway...I really love how they look in photographs, but whenever I saw a white kitchen on display or in real life, I wasn't drawn to it at all! I was drawn to the dark wood, with light counters. As we were driving to the store to order our cabinets, I said to my DH, "I think I want to order the dark ones." He and DD were happy, to say the least. When the cabinets went in, I was very pleased. I'm guessing that you feel the opposite way, and are drawn to the white kitchens you see, up close and personal. How do you and your DH feel about the beautiful gray kitchens that are popping up all over?? I think those might be a good compromise. KA:)...See Morejust_janni
