Samsung Fridge/Freezers? Good?
Comments (12)I have a Samsung FD, pull out freezer drawer with icemaker and water dispenser inside the fridge. I think it is about 18 mos old now. Absolutely love the interior layout. Within the first year, the icemaker broke. Samsung replaced it under warranty, took several calls on my part to get it serviced. Shortly after one year, the entire unit stopped cooling over the course of 4 or so days. It took an undue amount of Kafkaesque arguing with Samsung on my end to get to our end result of Samsung agreeing to refund our purchase price once I send them the cut-off power cord. It turned out that the unit's sealed refrigeration system has a leak, somewhere, and all the coolant leaked out. Anyone can get a lemon. I really like the design of this refrigerator. The customer service was, for several weeks, abysmal. While Samsung agreed to honor their warranty, it took a tremendous amount of arguing and follow up on my part to reach that result....See MoreDo you have any good packing-to-move tips?
Comments (40)Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! Such wonderful tips you've shared, and now I'm feeling a bit more confident about the whole thing! I work best when I have an organized process going on. It's when things become jumbled and chaotic that I tend to feel like I'm going to lose it. And speaking of losing it - yesterday, DH and I were working together and found that we kept moving things. The scissors - which were JUST RIGHT HERE not five minutes ago, had somehow taken flight and flown two rooms away. The packing tape ... where'd the flippin' packing tape run off to? It went on like that for quite some time, until we determined it would work best if DH would go out and mow the lawn and leave me to the packing on my own. Sometimes having a helper isn't much ... help. Our boxes are all broken down into flat pieces at this point, and DH is going to "make" two or three of them that I can work on each evening. I think that methodically working my way through the breakables and getting them all boxed up will be a big load off my mind. I know this will all come together and we'll get it done. I appreciate the encouragement and the info shared here -- definitely ideas we will be putting to use as we get further along in this....See MoreMiele 36" Fridge and Freezer Columns Info
Comments (9)Repairs update: The big noise was because the diaphragms were frozen up. They are two holes located in the middle of the door. We had a full shelf blocking them, plus while messing around with the ice maker we have been trying out various temperatures. Apparently too for the door to close properly, there can be nothing that extends even a bit off the edge of a shelf. All those things probably contributed to the icing over. Repair person thawed the holes with a steamer and noise is gone. The door also doesn't take as long now to "release" after it suctions itself closed, so that is much more acceptable. With the ice maker they are not sure what is wrong because all the glides and the drawer are installed correctly, and nothing appears to be damaged. They just don't reach the switch. They're going to put in new glides and hopefully that will fix it. Parts are ordered and it will be about a week....See MoreMiele 24" Combi Steam Oven vs 30"? Separate Fridge and Freezer?
Comments (5)If you are getting the Miele Speed Oven then it will work as a second oven. I have both the CSO and Speed along with a 30” wall oven. I mainly use my speed oven as an oven. It has a bottom and top heating element unlike conventional convection microwaves. It has all the oven modes as my CSO except for those needing steam. The CSO can only heat to 435 and the speed to 475. These ovens are more difficult to keep clean than a conventional 30” wall oven. There is no self clean mode and the Miele interior finish is not suppose to be used with oven cleaners like Easy Off. There are several threads about cleaning these ovens. I do not cook foods that produce alot of grease or splatter - those go in my wall oven or on the grill. I have had have my ovens for 7 years and they look not quite like new but almost - I have also not had to do a ”deep” clean on my CSO. I boil water and white vinegar to clean my speed oven. They are geat ovens but they do have their limitations....See More- 10 years ago
