Can geraniums be potted in a 5-1-1 high porosity mix?

Has anyone done this? I've had so much lasting success with Al's 5-1-1 mix (5 parts bark fines, one part perlite, one part peat or peat-based standard soil) with all my potted plants, I thought I'd give it a try. Since my understanding is that geraniums require an open, freely draining soil, the 5-1-1 seems to be the perfect candidate as long as one corrects for low pH from the acidic bark with some lime.

Any comments are welcome and appreciated
