any problems with air tub in shower/tub combo?
Comments (3)Do you have a specific tub in mind? We have a Bain ultra air tub and I couldn't imagine showering in it every day. The acrylic bottom along with the added height of the side.... to me it seems like an accident waiting to happen. I guess it would depend on the height of the tub you had in mind. In regards to the automatic air purge, it only happens after the air cycles off. You wouldn't be turning the motor on when you shower so the automatic thing wouldn't happen....See MoreTub or no tub - looking for opinions
Comments (15)Our carpenter/foreman is married to our real estate agent. She (agent) said that we should definitely have a tub in our MB for resale - b/c people will want it, even though they may never use it! Carpenter said to toss the tub - a larger shower would be better. We tossed the tub, replaced it with a large walk in shower. Shower will have a handheld shower head - one of those on a sliding bar - and a built in bench, also "nonhospital" grab bars. We found some *great* tiles for a small tile mural with matching accent tiles - should be very nice, and much more attractive and useful than a tub. We did agree to a tub in the second bathroom - a tub/shower combo. If I had my druthers, I'd switch that tub to a shower as well. Oh well. This is a one story house, so both bathrooms can be reached without stairs. We're putting a bench in the extra space in our master bathroom. You know, for sitting on after your shower, drying your toes off, etc. Although we did also consider a cabinet for towels. Extra storage. Most people we've talked to say that they rarely use bathtubs as adults. We feel good about our decision....See MoreMatch tub drain by tub or faucet manufacturer
Comments (3)It really doesn't matter whether you get it from the tub mfg, the faucet mfg, a third party mfg or even select a generic however there is one point you must consider. Common Waste & Overflow kits have compression joints to permit minor adjustments during installation. The code prohibits compression joints unless there will be a 12"x12" service access either through an adjacent wall or up from underneath. If the Waste & Overflow will be in a confined space with no service access panel you are required to use a glue in type waste & overflow kit. The type of drain function you are looking for will be listed as a "Lever Waste" as opposed to the "Toe Touch" which you do not want....See MoreNeed opinions regarding a window install in my hall bath tub area
Comments (9)I've done showers that had all kinds of windows. I'm not saying it can't be done. BUT. be aware there's a risk associated with it. <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Bill_Vincent/media/Flaherty033.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="" border="0" alt=" photo Flaherty033.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Bill_Vincent/media/Allen120.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="" border="0" alt=" photo Allen120.jpg"/></a>...See Morehousebuilding126
