Freaking out about my paint selection :(
Comments (40)I really like the LR color and the flow of colors you have throughout your house. Maybe it's because my LR and DR are the similar to your LR. My lighting is similar to yours. I have eggplant, teal, and orange incorporated with my accessories such as pillows and art for which that color works perfectly. Not every neutral color works well in that type of lighting, It took a whole lot of samples some of which are highly used and mentioned on GW to get it right for our rooms including many of the grays. When my neighbors and friends come into our home, the first thing they compliment is our wall colors. They want to know what we used. You'll see when it's all said and done. You will have the same reaction. I think your color consultant did a great job for you. Have fun decorating. My only suggestion is that you keep all your furnishings neutral with fabrics that have textures and have fun bringing in all the colors with your accessories and art. You have a beautiful home....See MoreKitchen paint & countertop selection
Comments (3)Hi dilly dally, I'll answer the best I can and I'll also post a link to some photos. I'm not sure I have all the answers because this is my first home and I'm still learning a lot. :) -Colonial built in 1900 -There's a picture of the moulding in the photobucket album -The pine is covered in linoleum glue, but we've been told it can be saved. It appears to be a warm yellowish when it's clean. I never considered staining it, but would be open to the idea if it made my colors work together better. -I definitely don't like modern decor. I chose this house because I love all the charming little details, like mullion windows and pocket doors. I don't want my house to look entirely antiquated, though, and hope to blend old and new while maintaining the charm. I hope this helps you help me. :) Thanks! Comments (27)Your friend should tell you which stone yards he/she works with so you can go look at the slabs (with a cabinet door with you to hold up against them) and take home samples of the ones you like to see in your lighting. Given the warm tones in the cabinets and floor, creams or warmer whites would probably be better than cool/stark whites or grays. Unless you want to go dark - then a black would work well too. It all depends on what your style is, the colors you like, and what you are looking to achieve. Do some googling and searching on here - warm wood kitchens - and see what you like and strikes your fancy. While getting ideas from pictures is great to steer you in a general direction, slabs vary greatly in person so you MUST see everything in person or run the risk of being hugely disappointed in what you get vs. what you *thought* you were getting. https://www.google.com/search?q=oak+cabinets+with+granite&client=safari&hl=en-us&prmd=isvn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjCyZLZ_eDfAhXIwlQKHd_jDnwQ_AUoAXoECAwQAQ&biw=375&bih=544...See MoreExterior paint selections - my SIL wants to surprise my daughter!
Comments (34)@cat_ky - Thanks!! Since they are moving back here in a couple weeks, they decided to wait and tell people (immediate family only for now) in person. I am the only person that they’ve told so far - and I’m sworn to secrecy! She told me that I don’t have the usual “spousal exception” - so, I can’t even share this with my SO. He came over while I was just getting off the speaker phone with my daughter, and heard her comment about how we had been on the phone for 2 hrs and 50 minutes! While she and I have had long calls before - the calls have never been close to THREE HOURS! After I hung up, he made a comment about how long the call was, and asked if something was wrong. “Ummm . . . NOPE!” It’s going to be a LONG couple of weeks! It’s difficult to have such exciting news, and not be able to share it - especially with my three sisters! That’s why I decided to share it with you all! In a few months, we can all brainstorm about putting together the perfect nursery!!...See More- 8 years ago
