It worries me that the girl is out there on the roads driving! Her excuse of someone else was backing up at the same time and she didn't want to get hit so instead she drives into our vehicle pretty much shows what kind of thinking process we are dealing with here.

My poor husband he had to stand out in the rain when we got home working on the hinges to get the scooter off the carrier and back inside. He looked like he was drowning. I threw a blanket around him and got him some dry clothes. He doesn't need to be getting sick. And today it's Still Raining it rained all night long. If it does this all week I would not be surprised to see more flooding.

Boy I wish we would win some kind of lottery. The fema grant we got which was to help cover the contents of the house since the insurance policy only covers the structure, remember my house is 4000 Sq ft with 4 bedrooms, they allowed that to bring the house back safe and sound it would be $500.00. Yes 500. Now don't misunderstand I am extremely appreciative of any kind of assistance we get from anywhere. But their wording of it just made me laugh. I can't replace one mattress for that lol. Thanks again !

Yikes! Is that all? I agree, $500 isn't much at all. Since your flood policy is a mandatory one (not a Standard policy like mine), perhaps, you should check if you can add Content Lost into your policy for your next year due.

It started as a rainy Monday here. Fortunately, it stopped around noon and the sun actually came out with a smile through my windows. Hopefully, it'll last through the rest of the day. Hope the sun is smiling through your windows as well :)

Raven, it's not complaining or being ungrateful regarding that $500. That's just pitiful.

What do they think any homeowner is supposed to do with $500???? That's horribly insulting. Right up there with ambulance chasing lawyers who don't get paid till you do. By the time you get a check, they might as well have kept it all.

We have not received the money from the flood insurance on the house yet. It should hopefully be a significant amount but very doubtful it will cover our costs, however the adjuster has been exceptional. And he knows we will have supplemental amounts to file. Like the cost for having to rewire the entire house. That happened after his inspection but I alerted him to the situation as soon as it happened and it was necessary to prevent the house from burning down. He has said they will allow some supplemental for that, we must keep very accurate costs, receipts and records.

We had a very strange thing happen today and I am choosing to think it's some kind of positive sign. My husband brought out to me in the rv a pink flower pot that had been on a shelf in my kitchen. In the flood it got moved around and he picked it up so it would not get broken. In it he saw some dirty water, not surprising, and something he thought was a dead bug, till it moved! He freaked out and brought it to me. Are you ready? In that pink flower pot that has never been outside, was a tiny baby CRAWFISH!! Now how the heck did that happen? I think it's my Cajun family up above letting me know they are watching over us. Of course I took a picture. I will post it so you can see this amazing site. I mean God sent me a crawfish that has to be a good thing! Lol I told my husband to put it in the flower bed so it could dig a hole and multiply!

Just when you thought nothing more could possibly happen. Geeze....bad things happen to good people and you've certainly had your share. I'm glad you stood up for yourself, what's wrong with people!

When I was raising my daughter, I had a lot of bad things happen (including a flood) and for much of it I had little to no support. To say I was always on edge and stressed was an understatement. What I finally started trying to do was to find something positive from where ever I could and put my focus on that. After a while, all the bad stuff just seemed to recede a bit which made it easier to cope and work through the issue of that day. I truly believe that behind every storm there is a rainbow. Try to keep positive Raven, good things are bound to happen soon.

Susanjf I am very sorry to hear about your fil's passing. Please send my deepest sympathy to the family and also to you. There are just too many people passing away recently. RIP

You are very welcome. Actually I have a lot of free time just sitting around in the rv. There's not a lot I can do in here. I read, clean, color, watch TV, cook, sleep lol. I have not been getting out much because my driveway is usually full of trucks the workers are driving. My wonderful neighbor has taken me out to lunch a few times. I don't go into the house unless my husband is with me because it's a construction zone. I am able to shop online however! I am using online to search for cabinets and tile and stuff we will need. I think I might order my cabinets from online. They send you samples. There are very good reviews. I found the knob, handles, and drawer cup pulls I want at a huge discount over local prices.

I am not able to get much exercise in here. I have my kettle weights I use for hands and feet. I miss my favorite recliner. The ones I bought for the rv are no where as comfortable. My back and hips have really been killing me lately and I think these chairs are contributing to it. This weather is not a friend to my arthritis! Thank God I had a really good custom made mattress made for this rv.

And yes it is still raining, off and on but the forecast for later today is for serious weather with hail and heavy wind and the worries about falling trees still.

I pray that your forecast turns out to be wrong. You've had more than enough rain and you sure don't need hail and high winds. Changes in barometric pressure and the dampness of rain sure do bother folks with arthritis.

So thankful you had sunshine for a change. What is your weather today....Wednesday? Saw on the news the flooding in Vero Beach, FL where they got 11 inches.

Today is overcast. Possibility of rain. I prefer to think more good possibility of sunshine lol. It's breezy which is good that helps with dry out. Today more demo is happening in the house. I am really ready to hear and see more construction and less demo. There's not much left to demo. One of my neighbors that also got flooded came by yesterday to see the house. She couldn't believe it. She said omg it's just studs. Yes it is. We had to put in a new back wall and front wall. They found some termite damage. It's being done right this time. All pink lumber and hardi plank exterior walls. It's shocking though to walk through the house. I try to have a vision of what it will hopefully be in the near future. NEAR future I hope. I went ahead and bit the bullet and canceled our June vacation at the beach for my birthday and anniversary. I was so looking forward to that.

By the time everything is finished you will both NEED an extended vacation. Cancelling your June vacation was a wise decision though. Your birthday and anniversary can always be celebrated at a later time. Sunny is here and I told him to get out there to you. Hope he listens to me.

What happened to the coloring books? Did they survive?

Yes most of the coloring stuff survived. I had just bought a really nice rolling cart with 3 levels of storage. I had put several of the books and colors in a tote bag out in the rv. The rest were high enough to avoid water. I had one container of pens that got wet but a lot of them were dry. I have been doing a little coloring.

My neighbor took me out to lunch and to Kroger. I am having some health related issues so I get to go to the doctor tomorrow. Not my ideal outing. It was nice getting out today.

I'm glad you got out today with your neighbor and hope the sunshine came your way too. Now Raven, you know we will want to know what the doctor has to say after you see him tomorrow. Not trying to get personal, just caring about you.

Sorry you had such a bad outing. It sounds pretty scary what you encountered. People need to slow down in parking lots. I nearly got backed over once in a parking lot. It was pretty scary since she was backing faster than I could get out of the way. I finally had to break into a run.

We're not getting the weather you are but I am so sick of the rain here. It's getting depressing.

We are under a flash flood watch! Big storm heading for us. They were supposedly going South of us but of course they didn't, they are dead on track for us. Strong storms possibly up to 8 inches in some areas. They were saying hail and hard winds. That brings in the risk of falling trees again.

We willprobably be out driving to the doctor appointment in the middle of it. It'st getting pretty dark out already with dropping temperature. Supposedly the weekend is going to be sunny.

Oh not "again"! I sure hope and pray it misses your area, and you will be safe going to your doctor appointment. Let us know when you get back home how you are and what the weather is doing.

I'm getting tired of looking up Houston on our weather page and seeing "ts" for thunder showers. (This doesn't sound much like 'showers', though.)

I just checked the rain gauge using the binoculars. 2.5" so far.

Oh it's still pouring. They said it was going to move through at 50 mph and be gone. Well guess what it's not. We made it to the doctor and back. It was a mad house in the parking lot everyone trying to drop off and pick up.

Ok so since I am sharing my life story with y'all. Turns out I have a staph infection. I have developed these boil like sores over night . She lanced them (ouch) and took cultures. She said they were looking good because they are draining on their own now. I am to use betadine scrub several times a day with hot water and hot compresses which will keep them draining. I started on a powerful antibiotic today. I asked what did I do to cause this, the stress alone could be responsible especially since I have a compromised immune system. She said it was doubtful it was from the contamination from the flood but who knows. I have not been in the stuff, if anyone would get sick from that it would be my husband. I have once before just over night developed a staph infection, that time it was in my elbow area.

So I am supposed to take it easy, reduce my stress haha, and hopefully the antibiotics will do the rest. I hope it's that easy! I am praying for a quick healing. Now just how do I go about reducing my stress level lol.

Short of living on tranquilizers and sleeping all the time, I don't know how you will reduce the stress you are having in your life right now and you don't want to be spaced out on meds, so I guess only time and things starting to go right for you will reduce the stress. I sure hope the antibiotic clears up your infection quickly and the compresses give you relief. I'm just so sorry for all you have and are going through.

These Spring storms are so foreign to me, we really don't have them here. Clouds and wet, yes....but this warm weather flooding is unimaginable to me

I am determined to try to keep my sense of humor. If that's gone I am going to be much more of a detriment to myself and my husband.

Now for the next chapter of the never ending horror story Days of our lives after the flood. . Remember that the night of the flood storm we were also hit by lightning which knocked down the entire tops of 2 of my big oak trees. We had our garden guy come cut those big limbs up and hauled away. Apparently unknown to anyone one of the biggest branches actually plunged into the ground and penetrated the ground several inches. Don't you know with our luck it penetrated the ground directly into one of our septic systems lines! Since no one has been using the bathrooms in the house it was not noticeable. However yesterday my husband did have to use the back bathroom that is still functioning. Shortly after that he had to go around the back of the house to the electric panel and he sees water shooting out of the ground. We have a pump in the septic tank that pumps out the liquid when it gets to a certain level to trip the pump. Normally this pushes the liquid out to the lateral lines. (tmi I know the solids sink and are taken care of by the bacteria in the tank). That's how it's supposed to work. But now there's a big hole in the pipe leading from the tank to the lateral lines. They are coming today to dig up the back yard and replace pipes. Lord only knows what this is going to cost.

I swear before this is over with we will be living under a bridge in the rv if we can keep it and the truck. You think you have planned for your retirement then a disaster like this hits you and you realize you are seriously at risk. How could anyone anticipate these kinds of things. I think of people who have lost everything in a fire, or their home exploded due to a gas leak. I don't know that everyone can recover from them. I am hoping and praying that we can but every time another big hit happens the bank account takes a hit too. So many people have set up go fund me accounts and I see why especially those with children. Donations have been made by the thousands but we never see a dime of it. At least those that set up the accounts are actually getting the help directly. There's a big concert happening to benefit the people affected by the flood, how much do you think I will get? ZERO. Anyone affected? Zero. I am not laughing about that that's seriously wrong.

But the fact that in our entire big yard which is around an acre that dang tree limb hit a bullseye on the septic line that's pretty funny, I mean what are the odds. I know it could have been much worse it could have fallen on the bedroom and killed us, so thank you Lord for that.

By the way it's raining and the weather man promised sunshine today! I am hopeful the sun shows up.

At least ONE thing is going your favor, Raven. Glad the antibiotics are working. You sure didn't need the problems with the septic tank and lines, but like you said, at least that limb didn't come down and kill you both. For that we are all thankful. Still praying for the rain to stop out there and sunshine prevail.

Wow. I have never known someone to have so many bad things happen to them at one time. I wish you could cash in on all this headache and trauma. Somehow it doesn't seem fair that you have to pay for all these bad things. :( Prayers and hugs, Raven. At least your health is improving.
