Sombreuil leaves turning pale green and yellow
Comments (12)Buford: Yes, that is what my rose looks like. Yellow leaves, green leaves, and new red stems and growth. It's only the Sombreuil though. The hybrid tea, grandiflora, Darlow's Enigma, and Rhode Island Red (Fields of the Woods, Kocher Red?) are as usual. Michaelg, I looked closer this am and found that the leaves do have green veins on many of them. So is it an iron deficiency? Cemeteryrose, I did soak the roses with a Miracle Gro solution this am (contains 0.10 chelated iron) and will see what happens (NPK 15-30-15). I was hoping this would not get complicated, as I like to keep things real simple, but I suppose I have to look into the compost situation now. My mix, if anything is more green than brown (lots of coffee grounds and garden and kitchen greens). Usually wet and slightly smelly while it 'cooks', and that's when I add paper or leaves that I keep in a bag adjacent to the bin. But the finished product was dry, crumbly, delicious black and odor free. It was from a 2 year old batch....See MoreEastern Whitebud - leaves turning yellow
Comments (5)Thank you for the responses - I will post some pictures tomorrow. As for the planting, my uncle planted it (he works for the nursery that I purchased the tree from). He hand-dug the hole, and we lowered the wire basket with the burlap wrapped root ball. It was a pretty big root ball. Last year, I watered religiously, but this year only about once per week, since it seemed to have taken off so well last year and earlier this year. My soil is clay, but there is pretty good fertile top soil at least a foot and a half deep. The tree is planted near a natural forest line (about 25'). There is a young black walnut about 40'-50' away. I could not find anything that suggests a whitebud is susceptible to the black walnut toxicity. I tend to agree it is a watering issue - which I am really just winging it. We have 4.5 acres and I have four young kids - my husband is military and travels (and deploys) a lot - so I often cannot maintain a consistent watering schedule - considering the vast number of trees, flowers, shrubs, fruit trees, berry bushes, etc in the yard - but am doing pretty well considering. Oh - its a whitebud, not a redbud if that makes any difference - I hope to add a redbud next year though!...See MoreSpines on cactus turning wood-like! Please Help!
Comments (5)It looks okay, but once a week is a lot. You have it planted in grit? When your night time lows are regularly above 8 or 10C, I would leave it outside. (slowly accustom to direct light to avoid sunburn.) It will be MUCH happier. Hopefully a cactus person will chime in as to watering. I'm not growing many cactus and they get watered by winter rain alone--5"/year the past couple of years, and 6 months or more with no irrigation at all....See MoreWhy are my Coast Redwood leaves turning red?
Comments (4)It is inside my garage in a hydroponics grow tent. The insides of the tent are reflective so that the plants get maximal light all around. Relative humidity is 55% to 60% MC. The container in which the small tree is planted is a half-gallon container with drain holes. I've also stated the temperature, i.e., 70F. The soil is Miracle-Grow Potting Mix, and for the past 6 months, the tree was growing very rapidly and had normal leaf color....See Moretravel lover
