Help with possibly damaged bluebird egg

We've had bluebirds nesting for over 40 years. About a month ago, I turned on the bird cam, and found two broken (pierced) eggs. At the suggestion of someone here, I removed the eggs and installed the wren guard (yes, it should've been up earlier). For several weeks the bluebirds stayed around, but seemed disinterested, though they did go in the house with the wren guard attached. In the end I removed the wren guard. I was away for one day, turned on the bird cam last evening, and saw the female sleeping there. This morning there were two eggs. One looks cracked, but I'm not 100% sure. The other looks perfect (probably the one laid this morning). Because I'm not certain about the possibly-broken one, I decided to leave it there. The wren guard has been replaced. Question: should the questionable egg be removed? Or is this something the bluebird can take care of itself?
