Trying to Turn Computer Off, but it Reboots
Comments (7)Roxio/Adeptec Easy CD / Direct CD software is well documented as being the major cause of this undesirable shutdown behavior. More or less anything compromising the operating system during the shutdown process could force this reboot. Disabling the "restart on system failure" feature may permit the exact cause to be isolated: Right-click on My Computer, click Properties, click the Advanced tab. Under "Startup & Recovery," click Settings. Under "System Failure," uncheck the box in front of "Automatically restart."...See MoreNeed to turn off computer for updates to be installed?

Comments (19)I just turned my computer on for the first time today, Tuesday. The first time the hard drive light stayed on for a second and turned off. The second time the hard drive light flickered 3 times and then went off. The third time the hard drive light came on solid and then flickered 3 times and then the black screen came up saying "We apologize for the inconvenience but Windows did not start successfully....." But then Windows proceeded to load and my computer is now working. I do not hear any beeping sounds. I'd appreciate any more ideas you have with this information. I am taking a video of the lights blinking with my iPhone which makes it easy to remember what happened. Thanks, Ginny...See MoreDeere LA-115 hard to start, engine hard to turn by hand
Comments (14)OK. I opened it up and had a look. The exhaust valve rocker arm stud was backing out, and the rocker arm was consequently very loose. I think that all I need to do is to clean up the threads and hole, apply locking goop, and re-insert. The one thing that's puzzling me is that there doesn't seem to be a cap on the exhaust valve, and I don't see one flopping around anywhere. I was very careful when I took the valve cover off, and am sure that it didn't fall out then. And when I re-tightened the rocker arm stud, there didn't appear to be enough slop to accommodate the cap. Should the exhaust valve have one?...See Moresharon_2010
