Cleaning Edges of Tile Floor at Baseboards
Comments (6)Yeah, that's gonna take a lot of scrubbing and toothbrushes. First get out all of the debris that you can. I use a steam cleaner and would never go back to a bucket and mop! But, before I steam clean, I vacuum and if I'm having a "good back day" I'll go over it a microfiber dust mop after I vacuum. The floor is basically clean of all debris and dust at this point. I'd hate to tell you how long it's been since I've used my steam cleaner. With my back problem vacuuming and spot cleaning as I go is having to suffice. But, when I do, steam cleaning makes my porcelain tile feel SO wonderfully velvety smooth that I HAVE to take my shoes off for awhile just to walk on my clean floors (lol) Bissell makes a GREAT little stick vac. I think it's under $20 at Walmart and around Christmas time, they can be as low as $14. I have one at each end of the house. If you decide to look into steam mops, again, Bissell makes a great product! Whichever route you go, always ALWAYS vacuum first! My kitchen tile is 8.5 years old. Baseboards are only 3 years old. I haven't vacuumed in about 4 days. If you get really industrious, you might even consider a fresh coat of paint on the trim. With the clean edges/corners and fresh paint, it'll look brand new :) Bissell Stick Vac http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=14320844&findingMethod=rr#Item+Description Bissell Steam Mop http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bissell-Steam-Mop-Hard-Floor/6497961 Monica...See MoreQuarter-Round Molding, Bullnose? HELP!
Comments (3)like floorguy said, use 22.5 degree angle cuts and use 2 pieces, each with 22.5 degree angle cuts on each end, while also cutting 22.5 degree angles on the main wall piece ends. you have to start your angle back far enough on your main wall pieces to just cover the corner, however, as you will need to cope out the corner radius from the back of the quarter-round material, it might not look right in relation to the rest of the quarter round installed (depending on the degree of the rounded corner radius. If this is an issue for you, you can add another piece and make a 3-piece corner using 11.25 degree angle cuts on all pieces....See MoreBullnose drywall corners and baseboard
Comments (12)Annz Looks nice! I like the idea of a quarter round that matches the floor will have to look into it. My DH says your radius looks smaller than ours? we have 3/4 corner bullnose. When we cut the 22.5° angles or filler piece was almost twice as long as yours (I think)? Sierraeast...thanks for the link...had been to trimtex site too. I found one bullnose adaptor at a local moulding company (wood and supposed to match our trim, butit did not match the baseboard exactly...have to look into the trim tex products I guess but I bet they wont match...not too thrilled about their "stand alone corner" idea....See Morecorner - super susan vs. blum corner drawers
Comments (7)Buel, I honestly had not thought of that obvious option. For a face framed cabinet, as was shown in your link, it is an easy swap with a slightly more useful drawer shape. I was not specific on this point, but Sherr's makes frameless cabinets. Since we will be using frameless cabinets the situation is a bit more complex. You would need a spacer to either side of the drawer box to allow the drawer not to be bound up in the corner. The blum solution has a workaround for this where the drawer front flexes. nice link by the way. Orbus, A super susan does not have the weight concern of a lazy susan. It is actually two turntables sitting with one on the cabinet floor and one on a shelf. There is therefore no center pole to obstruct the turntable and the weight is held by the shelf. In regards to if Sherr's offers them, Blum has cabinet dimensions on their website and Sherr will make a cabinet to your specification. So anything is an option. I do not know if they would integrate the hardware, but they do sell blum hardware so there is a decent chance. If not someone could always get this worked during the cabinet install. I believe it is expensive. However super susan turntables are not cheap either. : )...See Morebagofchips
