Should I add another window box?
Comments (11)Sailorgirl, I do not think I'd put another window box under the triple big window set. Nope. If you want another one, go to the far left set of double windows. What I'd do instead with that triple set of windows which has the picture window, is create a totally different framed garden vignette. Something like a very large and layered water fountain, maybe two layers, something white or maybe gray. It would be apparent that the picture window has the center stage framing this beautiful feature. And then I'd put the potted seasonal plants around the fountain...or bird bath, if you can find one big enough.. It would give enough substance to the spot to really give a POW to your front approach. You have a lovely yard. I do not think you need window boxes under that long row of windows. It would tend to make people wonder how it was being held up. And it would create a never ending chore trying to keep the boxes looking good. You'd be better off, and so would your plants, if they were in the ground, or sitting in pots around that fountain. Even a brick circular walk around the fountain would be neat and fit in well with your long straight brick path to the front door. Comments (13)I think there is some bacteria that will help get rid of the chemical they will absorb it and others will eat them. The ameoba and parameciams and protozoa that we learned about in 9th grade. Eventually the microbes will ameliorate. I like that word ameliorate the soil. It's your garden. Put what you want there. Maybe if you take some good soil from a place that you know grows good plants and sprinkle it on top it will rain down the good microbes. Maybe some good Organic fertilizers at the plant nursery will be good to sprinkle and make the soil good again. Don't they have something called starter fertilizers? To get the good things going again? I think rain eventually takes it away and it dissapates in the air and water and water vapor and the microbes....See MoreIs there room for a small work island? Comments (3)I'm confused. Is the sink the 36" to the right of the dishwasher? Regardless, the addition of the cart creates a barrier between the fridge and sink. I'd rather move the cleanup zone to the left a bit so that you have more prep space between sink and stove. I also have no attachment to sinks under windows since I spend most of my time prepping. Is each square 5 inches? One thing that stands out to me is an uncomfortably short depth for counter seating, as 15-18" is much more comfortable. Seating at the end of the peninsula will impede traffic flow, out in the aisle like that....See MoreThink I can add an 18" Dishwasher in a small kitchen
Comments (7)Not sure of your budget but I agree with Destiny - if you move the sink under the window you could put a dishwasher to the left of it. Then you could center the range more between the corner and the fridge to get more counter space on either side. You mentioned wanting to use open shelving instead of upper cabinets. For such a small kitchen do you have other storage for the the things that you keep currently in the uppers? In your case I think that you should keep them....See Morerockybird
