Citrus problem pictures and pesticide question.

Helllo super new to gardening just brought house with lots of land so I plan over years to have orchard. Ive googled my brains out so I think problem I might have here is over watering. What google told me if dirt feels like a moist sponge then there fine if it feels dry then water them. SO basically have no clue just trying to learn.

In tomato plants if leaves turn to sky I know means to much water same thing so question is what does this mean for citrus?

IM including 2 pictures of each tree have concerns with healthly "looking leaves " and yellow curved ones.

Another question here I ordered.

Neem oil 100% pure cold pressed and Dr. Bronner's Fair Trade and Organic Sal Suds Liquid Cleaner

Think this is organic pesticide? not 100% sure but several natural gardens recomended for my veggies so would be ok spray this stuff on tree as like preventive treatment?

Also im ordered some Boogie brew Its like compost toareate in a bucket then feed diluted 1/5 to veggies 2-2-2. Was planing on hitting veggies with this think be good for citrius trees?

It looks like your trees are in ground? They look pretty healthy, I wouldn't worry too much if they're in ground. Yes, neem is a good organic pesticide, just make sure you don't spray it during the day or when temps are going to get over 90 degrees. The oil can burn the leaves at higher temps. Spray it at dusk for prevention or when you notice bugs. Not sure where you are in the world but all you will need is a citrus fertilizer, don't use the same type of fertilizer you'd use on your vegetables. Citrus need more nitrogen than veggies. Vigoro makes a citrus & avacado fert that is decent, I use Arizonas best citrus food because I'm in the desert and that's what works best in my soils and climate. What zone/ state/ area are you in? Knowing that will help us suggest the right fertilizer for your specific conditions.

Im zone 8a/b alexandria Louisiana. Yes there in ground on a slop

When I planted them I used tilled it into ground

Osmocote Flower and Vegetable Smart-Release

I brought this just noticed it lowes Miracle-Gro® Shake 'n Feed Citrus, Avocado, Mango Plant Food. link here to mircale grow I brought at lowes

Also the boogie tea link here its not like main fertilizer from what I understand just adds tons of postive micro life that plants love.

The general guidelines for pesticides are (1) use them only when actual pests are present AND doing actual damage. (2) to work they have to come into contact with the bug. They are preventatives so you can't use them to try to prevent pests from coming to the garden. (3) first identify the pest and then use a pesticide that is specific for that pest. (4) always follow the label directions when it comes to mix rates, application frequency, and time of day for application. (5) know your pesticide, what it works on and what it is made of. When these guidelines aren't followed then far more beneficial insects are killed than pests. Numerous studies show that as much as 95% of the "bugs" (insects) in the average garden are either beneficial insects or what are called "neutrals" that do no damage. Squash has 2 primary pests - squash vine borers and squash bugs. Organocide doesn't list either of them on its label for use. So what pest issue were you having with the squash? It lists only: Citrus rust mites Spider mites Armored and soft scales Mealy bugs White-flies Aphids Leaf-rollers Leaf miner Fungus gnats Thrips Sago Palm Scale Glassy Winged Sharpshooters Organocide is and oil-based spray (97% oil and 3% emulsifiers) so when applied to the pepper and tomato blooms the oil can coat the reproductive parts of the bloom and gum up the pollen and prevent pollination from happening. 92% of the oil in Organocide is fish oil which is very high in nitrogen. So given your weather conditions the odds are that the primary cause of your problems with blossom drop is all the unnecessary spraying you have been doing. Hello Everyone, Sorry it took me so long with posting these pics but I could not find my battery charger. Well it has been about five months since I got this beautifull tree. I am constantly amazed at how this tree surprises me. Up to about 2 weeks ago, I had two crops of lemons on it. I was worried that I wasn't going to get any new branch growth but surprise, surprise! Not only did I get some new branch growth but I also got a bunch of flower buds and now they have opened and the tree has set more fruits! I really enjoy this lemon. Some people thought I was crazy to invest into such an expensive meyer lemon tree but I am glad I did. I now have around a hundred or so lemons on the tree. Andrew

For citrus groves, the eulophid wasp is pretty effective in controlling peelminer. Since there are several wasp species in Florida that do the same for leaf miner, I imagine there would be some possible cross-parasitism. Unfortunately, cultivating wasps is out of the question for backyard hobbyists. It's my opinion that the benefit of neem oil is more preventative, in keeping the adult form from even landing on a tree that's been sprayed. That because of the smell, more than anything else. There's probably a pesticidal benefit for insects the oil contacts as well, but when I spray, I'm not especially concerned with getting the oil on all parts of new flushes. This is why I think that neem will be an effect deterrent in both cases. Peelminer adults lay eggs on the bottom sides of leaves (allowing them to be sheltered from large-scale pesticidal applications), but leaf miner behaves similarly. I can eliminate leaf miner by spraying the top sides of leaves. So, it stands to reason that the effects of neem oil would be similar for both moth species. To be on the safe side, if you are very worried about this, you should ask a reputable nursery who supplies them, and see if they can ask the supplier, or ask for the suppliers number.. You might have to pay a bit more for the plant, but you will feel more sucure in your descision to buy from a good nursery..they can be trusted if reputable. Sometimes there are advantages to buying at a nursery or garden shop verses a Department store.:-) In fact, it was a local Home Depot that put one of our local nurseries out of buisness.:-( There they always had a 'specialist' or people with all kinds off horticultural knowledge.. Hello again neighbor, There is usually not much need for pesticide on citrus in our region, unlike peaches, pecans, etc. The big thing to be concerned about is soil draining, particularly with rains like the one we are about to get this weekend. What type of soil do you have, I know it varies depending on where you are in the Alexandria area, if you are in the river flood plain it may be richer than ideal for citrus.

about the top 7-12 inch rich black soil below that is super hard clay. thats one reason I tilled down about 12 inchs and I added about back comppost to each spot. I hope its ok but if not I will learn plan on being this location forever lol.
