Need advice on overgrown leatherleaf viburnum

Looking for advice on what to do with a 20+ year old leatherleaf viburnum. Having never been pruned, it is now 15 ft tall by 20 ft wide and covers pretty much entire west side of house. Problem is that it has spread and drooped to point that it covers grass in front of mulched planting area and impedes anyone trying to walk in that area.

Is there a way to cut this back (end of next winter) that can save the tree or it is just too big to be pruned back effectively? Trunk branches are 2 to 4 inches in diameter.

I've tried to attach a pic but it's difficult to tell if that worked.
