yup, got about 10 off it last season. treat it like you would any citrus in a container, obviously get it on dwarf stock. its in a 7gallon container I think. let me know if you want a picture, its got about the same amount of small fruitlets on it as it did last year, maybe slightly more.

Lol couldn't help it, I still go back and read that thread. It convinced me to get an Oro blanco for my yard. They are very vigorous trees and the flowers are unbelievably fragrant. The fruit are huge too.

I can tell you that they are one of the most neediest for sun and fertilizer that I have..They can not be treated like my other citrus in winter or it would die. A tough one to grow unless you give it lots of sunlight, and I mean lots of it!

Laura, ok ill get a picture up soon, not sure the diameter, you'll see in the picture its a wide shallow 7 gallon i think, its a 5 year old tree. This will be its 3rd year fruiting, last years fruit where the best because I put it in the warmest part of the GH in winter.

Mike I have a different experience with OB, winter storage is not an issue at all for this one. I have found it to no different then any other and actually quite easy and trouble free. The sun requirements wouldn't be any different then any other citrus.

Mike, Remember your growing environment is very unique and will not be representative of more traditional citrus growing situations.

The only legit difference would be heat required for fruit ripening. OB will require some of the most heat of any citrus for sweet fruit.

Thanks guys! My growing situation may be similar to Mike's although I am a bit south in MD. I do t use grow lights, but do have some very sunny areas in my home where my other citrus do well in winter. I am very tempted. Ryan, I take it you bring yours indoors also as you are in NC...

No, mine live in my outside greenhouse permanently. By this time of the year, I pull back about 1/4 of the GH film to keep temperatures form getting too high. Ill move some to optimize the spacing and maximum sun exposure. Around October they all go back in and the film is secured back down.

Ryan..Hello..I didn't realize that you lived much more south than I..You are so lucky! Mine did very well when I had it in my greenhouse, that is until I filled it up with orchids...Now I have to keep it at work in front of huge sunny windows or it will not tolerate low light as in winter, even in a sunny south facing window..I will say though, that it is one of my FAVORITE trees to grow and that is why I will do what it take to get it through a winter...I under fertilized it and could of watered it better though. I was too lazy to go to the other building at my work to care for it.

Now it's outside at my house, only to be brought in every night until it stays above the 30's..I will fertilize it and treat it for pests..I did sprinkle Osmocote on it and it already seems to be working. I will snap a shot of it in the state it is in...VINEGAR, WATER, FERTILIZER deprived and yet it should make a good come back)

Laura, plan on a wonderful tree! Just make sure you either give it lots of sunlight all window and even consider extra light if kept in warm temps, or a very cool room that allows it to rest until spring again)

Thanks Mike and Ryan! I wish I had a greenhouse, but they will have to do where I can keep them. I hope that will be ok. On a side note, when I ordered it this morning, I spoke to the agent and asked her about Nature Hills. Someone here (maybe Pip - not sure) mentioned that they suspected that the trees they sell come from Four Winds. Well, they are right! From what she explained, they get the rootstock (or perhaps very young trees) from Four Winds to their nursery in another part of California. They then grow them up and sell them. I realize that their prices are higher....but, not only is Four Winds out of just about everything, but the only trees they have are tiny starter trees. I paid $65 dollars for the Oro Blanco I ordered and it is at least three years old with extensive branching. I don't mind paying more for a larger, more established tree. I just wanted to let everyone know...maybe I should just start a new thread about it...

No, this thread is just fine Laura..I am so happy for you..Not only are the flowers a bit larger than average, but the fruit also, and boy is the fruit delicious~~~ !!!

All my leaves are not a dark green, the branches are sparse in nature of leaves, especially the center, and there was a lack of growth this winter(( I will be doing some serious trimming this summer as soon as the heat rolls in, if it ever does.

Laura, I tend to get a bit lazy about my trees once in a while. I don't know why..Either a lack of interest, just too tired at times, or I sometimes take them for granted..I hope to treat each one as good as I use too more consistently now) I must never loose my love for citrus...)

Beautiful you guys! Evan, that is tremendous growth!!! Ryan, cute kids!!! And great tree! How long have you had it?? I have two (kids) about that age, and another two older ones (15 and 11).

I bought through e-bay in 2012. it was pretty freshly grafted maybe 8-10 inches tall. I let it grow up then pruned it out a little. it wasn't long until it set its first fruit. The first year it wasn't too great I picked it too early. now a days I let them hang until feb/march they are very good and very juicy. the kids dont really like grape fruit but love OB.

You guys are not kidding! It's one of the best tasting citrus I ever tasted and I don't eat the fruit!lol

Have you noticed too that the fruit hangs on an extra long bare stem? It's odd but I like it....

I'll take a pic of my sickly ;looking one soon...It needs some work..I ignored it for quite some time. At least it got full all day sun all winter. It's probably what kept it going..

Forgive the lack of light, but yeah, I grow one in a pot as well. Overall, this tree is pretty forgiving in comparison to some other citrus I grow. It just got a fresh neeming tonight!

It does try to get large, but I try to keep it manageable in size. The foliage is strikingly beautiful in better light, as Evan/Ryan have shown!

This is my oro blanco. I ordered it last year from four winds. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding pruning and shaping??
