Need to know: pea pepple glue for succulent pot arrangements
Comments (17)Hope it works out for you, Nida. Personally, as a slight spin off of Jeff's idea regarding the top dressing pebbles .... Perhaps have one or two "display plants" which have the pebbles in place. Then with the rest of the pots purchased supply a baggy of pebbles for the buyer to sprinkle on top once they get home. That way if a plant should tip, the pebbles won't get lost in the mix. Would the paper cone you mentioned have the potted plant sitting in it or will the cone come from the top of the plant down? Unsure of just how you would be doing this and would be curious to know more. What I have done when shipping plants in pots (not something I do often as it adds weight and can be a pain in the tush) is to tape strips of paper down across the top of the pots to hold the media in place. The strips should overlap and be taped so soil can't escape....See MoreRainbow Elephant Bush help
Comments (8)Plenty of info on here about correct mixes for c/s, use the search box at the top of the page. Looks like all the plants need to be moved into a more suitable mix as already stated, it's completely wrong, sorry :/ Also, don't stand them inside cover pots, you can't see the standing water inside the cover pot, better to use terracotta ones on a saucer to protect surfaces and allow you to see if they are sitting in a puddle, plastic are ok though. You don't say where you live, but as you mention HD, I figure it's the US, somewhere? Helpful to add location info to your name. If I can grow port afra here in the UK successfully, maybe you can also depending where you are, but I think your current p a is now beyond redemption. Plants also need more light/sun. Group plantings of different species often fail, there's to much variation In individual needs, best to separate species. Misting c/s is not a good plan. The leaves should root fairly easily, hopefully someone will give you names then you can search the net for cultural info on each type. Gill UK...See MoreSucculent Identification
Comments (5)I am not quite sure; it could be Aloe (Aloiampelos) ciliaris, but I see some differences, mainly on stems & how leaves are attached...here are few pics of it from few different sites:The surface of leaves is more rough, aloes leaves are more smooth....See MoreDrying and Possibly Dying Succulent!
Comments (7)Marisa You could always get a light (best wold be perhaps a CFL or LED lightbulb - LED emits very little heat) and have it on timer for some hrs/day. Karen is giving you great suggestions - with succulents, it is all about drainage (and light). Watering less and/or less often is not really best solution - it may work temporary - but plants still need some water (at appropriate times) and will look best with that kind of care. Layer or rocks doesn't solve drainage either - excess water collects between them, and creates conditions that could be too damp for succulents. It is unfortunate that arrangements are often sold in those kind of containers - they usually look great, but do not provide best growing conditions for plants. Oldest leaves will usually dry up and fall off, but shouldn't be too many at the same time. If plants are in container and soil with poor drainage, they often either rot, or dehydrate from lack of some/proper watering....See MoreSierra
