Things not to do in our world.
Comments (14)If you're going to cast, make sure you have a mold before you wet your tufa mix! I was going to cast some spheres using cheap WalMart balls as molds. I pressed them into a bed of sand to support the shape while I worked the tufa mix inside. I got the mix already and then turned to slitting the balls open while the mix hydrated. As soon as my knife entered the first ball it completly collapsed and shrunk like a balloon; I was left moldless!! I took the balls out of the sand and went ahead and tried casting in the hemisphere depressions. It wasn't a pretty sight. I think I'll bury those blobs somewhere in the base of a retianing wall....See MoreNasty prank everyone should be aware of...
Comments (10)"FF the only crimes that are treated as serious anymore are only those viewed as hate crimes" ????? The USA has the highest incarceration rate of any country, including Russia and China. We incarcerate people for more crimes and for longer times than any other developed country. We incarcerate African Americans, especially young males, at a staggering rate. We have a forum friend who posts frequently. Her DS is in jail serving time for what most of us would consider a petty nuisance. IIf you think for a minute that minorities such as African Americans or LBGT peoples enjoy favored status from our judicial system, I suggest you walk a mile in their shoes....See MoreDo you believe things happen.....
Comments (28)The short answer - No. The long answer is that every thing that happens gives us a chance to react either positively or negatively. If you search out the positive that can be gained from an event, then you're likely to percieve it as "it was meant to be", or "it was God's will", or whatever. However, if you are don't seek a meaning, events are just events. I had a neighbor with a profoundly deaf daughter. She wailed all the time about her deaf daughter, but made no attempt to get the girl either into a special school, or to get her an interpreter for public school. Interpreters are provided free by the state here. No, she said "All things happen for a reason", well, maybe, but it doesn't relieve you of responsibility for dealing with them. I don't think every bad thing is for a reason. Things happen. Yes, have faith. But deal with the things. I seriously don't think it matters if something "was meant to be". All that matters is how one deals with it. That is the only control one has....See Morewhat do you think should happen to Penn State?
Comments (35)>> ... if you have a spouse who commits a felony, do you think you should be punished, also, if you are completely innocent of the crime? In my opinion, no. If you are completely innocent of the crime, no. But in this case there is not one piece of me that believes his wife is innocent. I believe she knew about it or at the very least suspected it and enabled it by deciding to not find out the truth. Do I think she should be penniless? I don't know. But I certainly do think that she should be held accountable and punished somehow. And as far as Penn State goes? Heck - how many times does a whole group get punished for the bad actions of a few? That's a lesson I was always taught - that my actions had impact well beyond me and I was responsible for that. One bad apple, as "they" say. In this case, it was a whole lot of bad apples, some more rotten than others....See Moreviper114
