No rain still
Comments (10)Julia, I know how you feel.....we are in a deficit of 5-1/2 inches of rainfall since January lst. The same thing was happening here for weeks on end....the forecast called for pop up showers and thunderstorms but it skirted around my area every time. Parts of the state got it when I didn't get a drop. Then a miracle happened today and it rained. Not a heavy, soaking rain that we need desperately but it was WET and coming from the sky. My daylilies are surviving but like yours are suffering from bud drop, shorter and often fewer scapes and buds and many are malformed. But I am always amazed at how resilient daylilies are. Yours are still beautiful. And your photography is great as always....See MoreWednesday blooms - another cool and dewy morning
Comments (12)Thanks Julia for the update on Fire on the Mountain. When we have 84 for a noon day temperature the weather people call it a "cold front", although the last week has been humid as heck, our temperatures have only been in the high 80's for the most part. We just had over 3 inches of rain over the week-end. The heat returns tomorrow.......I bought a new to me daylily based on your picture last year. When it opens (it has buds) I'll let you know how it does.............Maryl...See MoreMultiples and some new openings
Comments (13)mantis: Pattern Evolution is a Murphy intro. I never had the lavender color they show on their website. Always has been a deeper color here. I hate to divide or maybe it is timing on getting them out of the ground, cleaned up and replant what I want before the first frost hits. Procrastination I guess too. :) Jennifer: Westbourne Blueberry Popsicle is that color but is not a good increaser or bud count here. I think it needs to go to a hotter zone. I've had several Westbourne daylilies here that I got from MaryJane and eliminated all but 2 now. Julia...See MoreBlooms from the past few days
Comments (9)Jerry Hyatt: Hard to mistake this one for any other one. This is a great perfoming plant. SKINNY DIPPER CLOWN PARADE: Prairie Pink Lace: Outstanding ruffling. Never hangs up. LIMELIGHT AND LAVENDER: A Maryland hybridizer introduced this one and I would visit his garden several times a year. I never grew any of his intros because he was into UFOs/Spiders and I wasn't at the time, I prefered his wife's intros. He passed away a couple of years ago and someone was selling some of his plants. With the green throat, I have dreams of making crosses to other strong green throated dips.
