bathroom tile grout is too dark after sealing
Comments (2)You might try one of the acids or cleaners that is advertised to remove sealant. What sealant was used? I have the problem of ivory grout that came out white and would like to seal with something that will darken it. I will do a test area first to make sure it is the right result as I wouldn't want it to look like dirt but for mine if it yellowed it up some it would be perfect. Comments (14)Beth H., do you know more about the fixtures / hardware in that first photo you posted? It doesn't look quite as brassy gold as some of the gold finishes I've seen. It's a beautiful color. Thank you for all the thoughts on breaking up the black/gray/white. If we end up with our gray vanity and plain brushed nickel / stainless fixtures (may be necessary due to budget constraints), can I add a wood frame or other colored metal frame to our mirror or is that too many different colors / styles? We're planning on an extra large mirror to cover the sink and toilet (the wall is about 60" long) and were considering doing it frameless or just slightly beveled, but could go with a frame if it's the right look. The sink has to be flush with the wall on the left, so I can't add much framing otherwise it will push the mirror too far to the right, but something narrow is possible. Given the size we will probably have it cut by a glass store so can likely add any simple frame we choose....See More4" marble hex tiles on the floor too large with 3 x 6 subway tiles?
Comments (5)I think marble is probably too fancy for your 1940s cape cod, too. Not that you asked. But a modest house like that would never had marble in the bathroom originally....See MoreBathroom with charcoal gray slate tiles and white grout?
Comments (10)I did black slate (Brazilian slate to be exact) with my own customized color of gray using Laticrete epoxy. It is the way to go. It is a hard working bathroom with dirty farm shoes getting tracked in. I have cleaned it some over the last 7 years, but not much. Mold should not be an issues because floors are typically dry, right? I think the issue is just dirt. In my case there may be some oily dirt occasionally too. Don't use white, as mentioned by many above, use a gray in the tones that fit with the other colors in your room. In my case I combined a dark gray and a light gray and came up with a gray that still provides tons of contrast yet without being garish. Soon after installation: Today: Today. You can see some slight discoloration but nothing really stands out. I think it is due to the fact that this is a mud room in practice. the most discoloration is at the sink where DH stands to wash up:...See Morerockybird
