Comments (4)Yup. Burdock, Articum sp. Getting rid of it? Hahaha! Eat it. I like the roots pickled. Some use the stalks like cardoon. Seeds and roots used medicinally....leaves make a nice cooling poultice. If that isn't your thing, burdock is biennial. Cut and get rid of before it sets seed. Don't even try digging the root. It goes long and deep and is very brittle. Unless you dig a tiger-trap next to the root and pull it into that hole, you won't get it all without breakage. FataMorgana...See MoreAlien!? Plant?
Comments (15)I've been trying to square it with what is likely to be growing in rough grass (presumably the site of spring bulbs, maybe an old orchard?) in a UK garden.
