Oh! Oh! I want one! Actually, I want a lot! My niece gave me a huge blue ceramic pot last year, which we planted with pink Wave petunias, and in another pot, a Superbells . Super made it through the winter and is blooming now. Needs a haircut, I think. I don't know if my Kroger will have the plants, but I know a nursery that will. Thanks, Rhizo!

Love them! I am planting good ole petunias along our front walkway. In a few years, maybe these new petunias will be more affordable and available for mass plantings.

I have a big blue pot, too, sistersue. Lemon Slice is already planted in it, lol. I have some tall brown fiberglass planters and Bubblegum looks great in one of those on my back patio.

The thing with the Supertunias, Superbells, and many other hybrid specialty plants is that they can't be reproduced from seed. They will always be more expensive than seed grown annuals, even after their plant patents run out.

I grow nearly all of my flowering annuals from seed, but always end up buying a few that make my heart race when I look at them.

Darn it! I meant to take a pic of my bubblegum with another kind of petunia. Maybe I'll remember tomorrow. Love the Lemon Slice, too, rhizo.

rhizo - out of curiosity, would the grower of your plants be either Metrolina, Leary Plant Farm or Greenleaf?

Moonie, the only tag in the containers were provided by the patent holder, Proven Winners. As inexpensive as they were, I wouldn't be surprised if they were grown in nearby Tennessee.

Out of curiosity, I'll have to ask the next time I'm in there.

I first came across Lemon Slice a few years ago. Now I try to get at least one every year. I love them so much!! Your petunia is gorgeous too!

pudgeder, Bubblegum is a very large plant and needs to be all alone in its tall planter. It would overwhelm anything planted with it, anyway.

Lemon Slice is planted with a white Angelonia and I may stick something else in there....maybe a bright orange zinnia. The container is bright blue.

I love petunias. I have several periwinkle blue one sprinkled through out the atrium. Such a beautiful calming color. I would buy both of these!

rhizo - I was just wondering because the nursery I work for (I don't work anymore, just hang out there, but my DH works there) grows for Metrolina. Metrolina services all over the east coast. And my nursery ships into Georgia and parts of eastern Alabama as well. So, I was simply curious if you had one of our plants. :)

When we grow Proven Winners, it does not carry our labels. Not even a "grown for" label.

Here is a pic of what I thought may be the same supertunia as yours. However, I don't think it's a supertunia but is only referred to the color as Bubblegum. It looks very pretty with the other petunia. I don't believe this was meant to be a combo, but, as they were potting, was the end of one color and the start of another. This was a freebie because it was unshippable due to a bare spot. Love the freebies! I have lots. lol

My Supertunia® is in the Vista series.....Proven Winners® Supertunia Vista Bubblegum, lol.

As you know, patent holders are very particular about the labeling and propagating of their protected stock. In my opinion, the plant breeders of Proven Winners introduced a real game changer with their Vista series of petunias.

rhizo - I talked to the boss today. He has not grown supertunia's in several years. He only grew them for Lowe's and Lowe's is no longer one of his customers. I did not ask which series it was that he grew but he didn't like them because they were a wide growing, vegetative kind that didn't work well with his drip line system.

So now I know that my petunias are definitely not supertunia Bubblegum and will not do well once it gets hot. lol

Here is my Lemon Slice from a couple of years ago. The first time I got it, there were only a couple of plants available at the nursery I go to. They go pretty quickly, which isn't surprising when you see how beautiful it is!!

Moonie, I guessed right about Tennessee....I looked on the bottom of the large pots that the plants came in and there's a sticker tag from the grower.

Hey, I think I bought the coolest plant today! OK, so yours is blooming and mine has a little ways to go and grow. But this one is guaranteed to give warm fuzzies... ;-)

Calibrachoa is a blooming machine, though. I would not have guessed Kroger for that type of plant source, although I did buy a ceramic pot at the Ralphs/Kroger last week. Is nowhere safe from spring temptations???

This particular Kroger has a very impressive floral department inside and always have an expansive display of seasonal plants outside. I've been buying from them for years. The prices can't be beat, either.

They also sell nice looking herb, tomato, and pepper plants.

My "Fuzzie" is Phylica pubescens (common name Featherhead, but I suspect mine will always have the fuzzy nic). It is sometimes used in the cut flower trade. The flowers are just a yellowing on bracts on the ends of the branches. Photo showing the flowers.

That's a fascinating looking plant; I love the texture!
