How long does a strawberry take to ripen once it has begun turning red

Does it take days or weeks?

This is my first strawberry plant. In just two days, one strawberry is now red all over (though obviously not throughout the interior of the fruit).

I have Albion, Seascape and one Quinault.

It's been in the 80s but the next week or so will be high 60s to 70s.

Varies with the variety and of course the weather is a contributing factor too. But as a very general rule they run in 6 week cycles so you have some time to go. Takes patience and careful care as they can easily get sun scorch or pest damage while waiting for them to turn. Dave PS: I assume you know that leaving the green ones on the plant to get the colored ones means less production over all because the plant shuts down? It's a good idea to pick a few of them as greens to keep it in production.

I finally decided to pick the peach off the tree in fare of the 4 legged might get it before I do. Here is the picture of it. Isn't it a beauty! Brad, rid of Rabbit in the yard, a cat is the best thing to have. My cat patrols the yard in the summer , along with my neigbor's cat. it get rid of all sorts of creatures. Foolishpleasure, sorry for the crop lose. what kind of chemical are you going to spray it with? BTW How long a peach tree can live, anyone knows?

How long do chillies ripen

All depends ,my experience mild chilies ripen faster than the hotter ones.i would say a month to a month +..weather also plays a factor....I would let them stay on the plant ripe as they build heat and flavor..just don't let them start to wrinkle unless u plan on drying them..example a green habenaro will taste like a bell pepper and a ripe one burn your tongue off.

Awesome! I've been told 30-35 days or pick when they turn red. As I mentioned before, we've been keeping them on the vine many weeks after turning and they are definitely sweeter. Yours however, are obviously a completely different variety from mine since they are turning color so soon. My money would be to wait until YOU can't wait anymore! I think you will be happier with the flavor. I would label or mark which ones are turning first. Get some pics of the blooms opening tonight. I bet they are cool as hell. J

Not enough information in your first post to tell. Two days from what condition? Full-sized but all green? It would not be over-ripe if you let it go another entire week, then you can experiment by eating one to see the interior. Odor can be another indicator of strawberry ripeness.

The Logician LLC: once it has begun turning red.

After three days, the strawberry was entirely red. I picked it because I didn't want it to start getting mushy, but it tasted very sour. It's possible I picked it too early ...or that it was a result of the soil or an early crop.
